Under the Radar Contenders for World Finals XXIV

Authored by Scott Jordan on March 28, 2025

Over the coming weeks, the field of contenders who will compete at Monster Jam World Finals will start becoming a bit clearer as series champions are crowned. With six automatic bids up for grabs, (five if Blake Granger wins Arena East), that leaves 17 or 18 at-large spots open when you factor in that the LCQ winner earns number 24. In years past we have also witnessed some competitors compete exclusively in Skills or High Jump, which also opens up a few opportunities for drivers to compete at the biggest event of the year. Let’s take a look at a few stars who might just find their way to Salt Lake City.

Brandan Tulachka/Just Get-Er-Done IIBrandon currently sits in fifth place on Arena Championship Series East, as the highest scoring independent driver on the series. Throughout his career, he has proven he can beat anyone on the racetrack and win the event championship on any given night, but where Just Get-Er-Done II may really shine in Salt Lake City is the Skills Challenge, where he won two out of three this past weekend in Biloxi. Given the opportunity, Brandan could end up as a World Finals Champion.

Prediction: LCQ and Skills

MJ Solorio/El Toro LocoThe second-year driver has made quite the climb in his sophomore season, rising all the way up to second on the east series and 15th in the Power Rankings. The MJU graduate is looking to make his first appearance as a World Finals competitor and, if selected to the Last Chance Qualifier, would be an early favorite to earn the 24th and final spot in the Main Field. Solorio’s dream season could very well end on a high note at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Prediction: LCQ

Matt Cody/Grave DiggerMatt is still battling for the central series championship but what happens if he doesn’t win?  Last year Matt took over Grave Digger on Arena Championship Series West and kept the lead with the truck, earning a series win. However, Matt graciously passed off the automatic bid to Jurassic Attack’s Dalton Widner missing out World Finals at SoFi Stadium. This season, I believe Matt has done enough to earn an at-large bid giving him the chance to compete at World Finals for the first time in his career. At the very least I feel he would be a lock for the LCQ, but we will see how the field plays out as we get closer to July 4th weekend.

Prediction: Main Field competitor

Devin Winfield/VelociraptorDevin Winfield has had a phenomenal season. Finishing second to Weston Anderson is no easy task.  Now granted the season isn’t over yet but, regardless of what happens, Winfield has proven in his second-year that he’s a force to be reckoned with. The Las Vegas native has, in my opinion, earned a right to compete in Salt Lake City. He poses a threat to Anderson and Coty Saucier on a nightly basis and has more than held his own on a very talented and very tough Arena Championship Series West. Last year, Velociraptor won the Last Chance Qualifer with David Olfert behind the wheel and we may very well see the same result this year with Devin Winfield.
