Joe Urie is an MJU graduate who grew up as a lifelong fan of Monster Jam. He started competing full-time behind the wheel of Zombie in 2019, where he placed fifth overall in Triple Threat Series East. He made his Monster Jam return following the pandemic in 2024 behind the wheel of Earth Shaker.

What are some of your interests/hobbies/favorite pastimes?
I love to do anything active, especially working out at the gym or listening to music.
Who are your role models?
My father; my old football coach, Daniel Bayless; and Tom Meents
Do you have any ‘pre-show’ rituals you run through?
I will grab dirt from the ground and rub it in my hands, then say a prayer for me and the truck.
What’s something a lot of people don’t know about you?
I love surfing!
What is your favorite memory on or off the racetrack?
The first time driving a Monster Jam truck
What is your most prized possession?
Memories as a child on my ATV tearing up the field at my family farm!

What is the best and worst thing about being on the road every weekend with Monster Jam?
The best thing is being able to drive the Monster Jam truck. The worst thing is not being in my own bed.
While on the road, what is your favorite thing to do during your free time?
Work out and being active
How do you keep fit?
I eat right and workout every day.
What item(s) can you not live without while traveling on the road with Monster Jam?
Music and my workout supplements
What is your favorite city to travel to? Why?
There’s so many of them; it’s hard to choose because they’re all good.

How did you get started competing in Monster Jam?
I have been a fan of Monster Jam for as long as I can remember. I met a family that gave me an opportunity to travel to several Monster Jam events with them as a performer. From there I had an opportunity to test in a Monster Jam truck earlier this year at Monster Jam University.
What is your favorite part about competing in Monster Jam?
I look forward to the thrill and rush of competing against the elite drivers of Monster Jam.
How would you describe your driving style?
My driving style is smooth, controlled, and aggressive.
What is your greatest memory as a Monster Jam driver?
So far, my favorite memory is working with the one and only Tom Meents at Monster Jam University.
