Zimmer Jr. and Winfield Look Strong After First Month of Season

Authored by Scott Jordan on January 31, 2025

A few weeks ago, I highlighted the Central series on the arena circuit as possibly the most entertaining battle from top to bottom as we began the “Road to World Finals” in Salt Lake City. A month into the season and those eight Monster Jam superstars continue to live up to the hype. As the 2025 season rolls into the second month, there is a new series points leader as his name is Jon Zimmer Jr.

The series roared into the Prudential Center in Newark with El Toro Loco’s Fernando Martinez on top. When the dirt cleared after four events though, Jon Zimmer Jr. had Terminal Velocity on top and primed for a solid run in February. I get asked a lot of I think an independent driver will ever win a series championship. My answer has always been yes, and it may very well happen this year as “Lil Zim” continues to impress.

Last year I wrote about a young man out of Las Vegas, NV, who won his first career Overall Event Championship in his hometown. Flash forward to year two, and Devin Winfield is lighting it up on Arena Championship Series West.

The Team Throttle Monster driver currently ranks second on the series and went toe-to-toe with Weston Anderson in Sacramento, splitting the event championship trophies. Devin’s rise in Monster Jam has been widely publicized and, in what was one of the most talented rookie classes in history last year, Winfield’s second-year jump may end up being the best of the bunch. The former USHRA Tech Official is an early favorite for the 2025 Monster Jam Rising Star Award.

To find out if Jon Zimmer Jr. keeps Terminal Velocity on top, tune into Arena Championship Series Central this weekend from the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn. And if you want to see Devin Winfield chip away at Weston Anderson’s lead, you can find all the West series FargoDome action on our YouTube Channel.
