Weekend Recap: Unique Challenges as Monster Jam Visits Rosemont and Hidalgo

Authored by Monster Jam on September 18, 2023

Monster Jam was in action at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL, and the Payne Arena in Hidalgo, TX, last weekend. All of the drivers faced a unique challenge with a Sky Wheelie competition taking place at both venues, while Bari Musawwir got behind the wheel of Grave Digger in Rosemont.

Rosemont:

Bari Musawwir made the most out of his opportunity to get behind the wheel of Grave Digger this weekend, winning four of the five overall event championships. The driver denying him from sweeping the weekend was Tony Ochs in ThunderROARus, who took the trophy home Sunday afternoon. Between them, Bari Musawwir and Tony Ochs won every competition of the weekend with the exceptions of the Saturday evening 2-Wheel Skills Challenge and the Sunday afternoon Racing competition, which were both won by Brandan Tulachka in Just Get-Er-Done II.

Hidalgo:

There was a lot more parity between the winners in Hidalgo, with six of the eight drivers winning a competition, and four different drivers picking up overall event championships between the five events. Kayla Blood (Soldier Fortune) took home the first trophy of the weekend on Friday, followed by Armando Castro (El Toro Loco) and Matt Cody (Grave Digger) on Saturday, and then Zack Garner (Wild Side) and Blood again on Sunday. Dalton Widner (Jurassic Attack) won both 2-Wheel Skills competitions on Sunday, while Colt Stephens (ThunderROARus) added his name to the winner’s list with his Sky Wheelie performance in the Sunday evening event.
