Weekend Recap: Two More Monster Jam Champions Crowned; Two Points Battles Remain

Authored by Monster Jam on April 22, 2024

Two more drivers were crowned as Monster Jam series champions last weekend, meaning there are just two more left to crown as we close in on Monster Jam World Finals XXIII.

Stadium Championship Series East – Foxborough

The points championship remains open in Stadium Championship Series East, although Tyler Menninga (Grave Digger) holds a comfortable 58-point lead over Tristan England (JCB DIGatron) as we close in on the end of the season. England was able to take the Overall Event Championship at Saturday’s event in the Gillette Stadium, thanks in part to his Great Clips 2-Wheel Skills Challenge win. Menninga won Racing, while Linsey Read scored a 9.463 to win Freestyle in the wet conditions.

Stadium Championship Series West – Hampton

Eight drivers in the Stadium Championship Series West championship headed to Hampton, VA, for four non-points events. While Ryan Anderson (Son-uva Digger) has already clinched this championship, Adam Anderson (Grave Digger) has been performing strongly at these non-points events and pulled off the weekend sweep, winning all four Overall Event Championships at Hampton Coliseum. Mike Christensen (Vendetta) picked up a Racing win, whereas Kayla Blood (Soldier Fortune), Colt Stephens (ThunderROARus) and Bari Musawwir (Zombie) each picked up one Sky Wheelies win and one Freestyle win apiece. Adam Anderson won everything else.

Arena Championship Series Central – Hamilton

Weston Anderson remains undefeated in series championships since joining Monster Jam as he clinched the Arena Championship Series Central Championship following Saturday afternoon’s event at the FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, ON. Anderson won all four Overall Event Championships, although it was a tough contest on Saturday evening when he, Jamie Sullivan (Monster Mutt Dalmatian) and Brandan Tulachka (Jet Get-Er-Done II) all tied on points, but Anderson had the higher Freestyle score. Fernando Martinez (El Toro Loco) and Brianna Mahon (Scooby-Doo) did not walk away empty-handed either, as they picked up a Skills Challenge win and a Freestyle win respectively.

Arena Championship Series East – North Charleston

Unquestionably the tightest championship battle all season long has been the one between Krysten Anderson (Grave Digger) and Armando Castro (El Toro Loco) on Arena Championship Series East. For most of the season, Anderson has held the higher ground. However, Castro has now snuck ahead, building his points lead up to 10 points following the four events last weekend at the North Charleston Arena. Castro won three out of the four Overall Event Championships, only losing out to Zack Garner (Wild Side) Saturday evening. Chad Tingler (Over Bored) also picked up a Racing win, but all eyes will be on the Castro/Anderson battle as they head to Colorado Springs.

Arena Championship Series West – Charlotte

Tony Ochs (ThunderROARus) kicked off the weekend’s action with a Racing win at Spectrum Center, which he dedicated to his late father. Ochs’ win set the tone for the rest of the weekend, with him winning six out of the 12 competitions throughout the weekend. Matt Cody (Grave Digger) clinched the Arena Championship Series West title but, since Grave Digger has had many different drivers throughout the season, passed off on his automatic bid to Monster Jam World Finals XXIII to series runner-up Dalton Widner (Jurassic Attack).

International Series – Zurich

Six drivers headed to Zurich, Switzerland for four events over the weekend, with Blake Granger (Megalodon) continuing to demonstrate why he is the International Series Champion. Granger swept all four events at the Hallenstadion, winning all but five of the 12 competitions. Brandon Arthur (The Amazing Spider-Man) broke through for a Racing win, whereas Charlies Pauken (Grave Digger) also picked up wins in Racing, Skills, and two Freestyle wins on Saturday evening and on Sunday.
