Weekend Recap: Strong Weekends for Jamie Sullivan, Fernando Martinez

Monster Jam was in action in Cincinnati, OH, and Fresno, CA, last weekend, with Team Grave Digger winning only two of the six events.

 

Cincinnati, OH – Heritage Bank Center

 

Six of the eight drivers took home competition wins at the Heritage Bank Center. It all started Saturday afternoon with Jamie Sullivan (Monster Mutt Dalmatian) winning JCB Racing, Tyler Menninga (Grave Digger) winning the Great Clips Skills Challenge, Chad Tingler (Black Pearl) winning Sky Wheelies, and then Sullivan breaking through again for the Freestyle win and Overall Event Championship. Grave Digger ran into technical gremlins Saturday evening, and Sullivan kicked off the night with another JCB Racing win. Jon Zimmer Jr. (Terminal Velocity) won in Skills, while Chelsea VanCleave won the Sky Wheelie Competition and Tony Ochs (ThunderROARus) won Freestyle. Jon Zimmer Jr. took the overall. Tyler Menninga came back out swinging on Sunday, winning JCB Racing and Skills, but VanCleave won Sky Wheelies and Sullivan again won Freestyle and the Overall.

Fresno, CA – Save Mart Center

 

Weston Anderson (Grave Digger) and Fernando Martinez (El Toro Loco) won all but two of the 12 competitions throughout the weekend at the Save Mart Center, but it was Martinez who had the edge winning two Overall Event Championships to Weston’s one. Anderson kicked things off with the JCB Racing and Freestyle wins on Saturday afternoon, giving him the Overall. Saturday evening, the rivals split the competition wins two apiece, with Martinez winning by a single point. On Sunday, Martinez won again with victories in the Great Clips Skills Challenge and Donut competitions. Angelina Nock (Megalodon) won Donuts Saturday afternoon, and Tim Hall Jr. (Jurassic Attack) took the JCB Racing win on Sunday.
