Weekend Recap: Monster Jam Makes Return Trips to Fresno and Allentown

Authored by Monster Jam on July 31, 2023

By popular demand, Monster Jam returned to two locations that had already witnessed the exciting action in 2023. Fans in Allentown, PA, and Fresno, CA, were treated to an encore performance on the final weekend of July.

Fresno: Four events were held at the Save Mart Center with Tyler Menninga (Grave Digger) sweeping Freestyle and Racing competitions. Menninga had last visited the venue in 2019 and his latest effort exceeded the results of the stop four years ago. Menninga added three event championships, but Armando Castro (El Toro Loco) opened the weekend with the Friday night win, preventing the sweep. Castro was a three-time winner in Donut competition throughout the weekend. Mike Christensen (Vendetta) scored a Donut win as well. With Arena Series West having visited Fresno in March, David Olfert (Velociraptor), Bailey Shea (Monster Mutt Dalmatian) and Ashley Sanford (Megalodon) were making return appearances.

Allentown: The PPL Center in Allentown hosted Saturday and Sunday action as several competitors returned from a February visit. Tony Ochs (ThunderROARus), who won a Freestyle in Allentown in February, stepped up to claim the final event championship of the weekend. He also doubled up with a pair of Freestyle wins. Weston Anderson, who competed in Allentown in his rookie season of 2022, captured a pair of event championships along with two Donut wins. In his first visit to Allentown since 2019, World Racing Champion Tristan England (Earth Shaker) took a pair of Skills competitions while Zack Garner (Wild Side) notched a Racing win.
