Fans were treated to four exciting performances at the Sprint Center this past weekend in Kansas City. The leaders of the East Tour for the 2016 Monster Jam® featuring the AMSOIL Series showed why they have asserted themselves at the top. Series leader Team ZombieTM and Bari Musawwir scored 8 points for the weekend, claiming the overall championship after the final event. Top points earner for the weekend, was Team Grave Digger® and Cole Venard, who managed to gain 8.5 points to close the gap slightly in second place.
Half of Zombie’s weekend points came from domination of the Wheelie competition, winning all four attempts. Grave Digger notched a clean sweep in ATV main events and added a heat for good measure. Team Scooby-DooTM and Bailey Shea started the weekend strong, claiming the overall point championship on the opening night, but cooled off with only an ATV heat win in each of the three performances.
Team Monster Mutt® Dalmatian and Cynthia Gauthier scored 3 points for her best weekend of the year. The Kansas City performance marked the second consecutive week that Team Zombie collected 8 points.
The busy weekend in Kansas City will serve as the perfect set-up for this weekend’s grueling competitions. Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, will be host to six competitions, which will test the endurance of all of the equipment, crews and athletes. While some of the competitors are getting their first look at the arena, but attraction of scoring a high point total will drive all the athletes to give their best efforts. With the championship carrying an automatic bid to the Monster Jam World Finals® XVII, the Rosemont weekend will bring clarity to the chase for the championship.
