They’re calling it “The Streak” and it’s still going strong. Scott Buetow and Team Hot WheelsTM Firestorm came into the Monster Jam® event in Brisbane, Australia on October 1 with three consecutive stadium Freestyle victories. With a near-perfect score of 39 in front of a roaring crowd, the streak has now grown to four in a row.
In the last 15 years, only Adam Anderson, Ryan Anderson and Tom Meents have won four or more consecutive stadium Freestyles. Adam Anderson was the last to do it before Buetow, winning four in 2014. Ryan Anderson completed his feat in 2012. Meents has done it three times, winning four in 2008 and in 2002. The Max-DTM driver had five consecutive Freestyle wins, but it spanned two seasons. After winning Pontiac (Michigan) and Monster Jam World Finals® V in 2004, Meents got off to a hot start in 2005 by winning in Atlanta, New Orleans and Tampa before the streak ended. Ryan Anderson completed his feat in 2011-2012, running the mark to six in a row after two in 2011 and the first four of 2012..
The world will be watching when Monster Jam heads to Melbourne, Australia and it’s looking good from a statistical standpoint. In 2015, Team Hot Wheels Firestorm won Freestyle with an Australian record score of 43.
