Monster Jam Opening Ceremonies at State Farm Stadium

Oh What a Night in Glendale!

Authored by Scott Jordan on October 7, 2024

Saturday night, Monster Jam made history at State Farm Stadium as the four Marvel Monster Jam trucks made their US debuts in front of not only a packed crowd at State Farm Stadium, but also a national audience tuning in live on YouTube, Pluto TV, Vizio WatchFree+ and Plex.

A superstar lineup was on full display in Glendale as Camden Murphy, Jamie Sullivan, Bari Musawwir, and Brandon Arthur gave a US audience its first look at The Amazing Spider-Man, Thor, Black Panther, and Iron Man respectively. For Glendale fans, it was also their first in-person look at the brand-new Sparkle Smash truck driven by Kayla Blood. The Louisiana native rewarded her fans with a spectacular freestyle run that led to her first stadium freestyle win since taking over the six-ton unicorn with attitude.

Zack Garner continued his career-defining 2024 by starting the night with a racing win. Garner seems to have Wild Side dialed in and faster than ever as he maneuvered his way around the ticky-tacky turns the exciting new “inverted paperclip” track challenged him with. As if that wasn’t enough for the second-generation driver, he had the “Crash Madness” moment of the night when he nearly broke his truck in half to cap off an unbelievable freestyle run. Not to be outdone, his dad Jamey laid out an unreal backflip and continued his run with three tires on the truck. The Garner’s meant business in Glendale.

Perhaps lost in the Marvel Monster Jam hype, was Adam Anderson debuting a brand-new truck in Grave Digger 42. His old truck, good old number 35, was a favorite for any driver who strapped into it, but a limit on parts for the drive line necessitated a change and Anderson came out firing on all cylinders, breaking in his new ride by winning the Overall Event Championship.

Adam Enticknap and I had the pleasure of calling the live stream for the first time from our Florida television studio and to be live on tv for three hours was a pressure-packed thrill ride and I can’t wait for the next round. For those of you who tuned in, thank you so much for joining us. Some of you reached out on social media with kind words and I cannot thank you enough. It was our first go round and I think it went great, but we will fine tune some things and be ready to roll for Houston. I want to shout out our incredible production team at HQ and the live event operations staff in Glendale for their hard work and symmetry in making this event happen. Also, to the third member of our Glendale broadcast team, Casey G, you rock!!

Now with Glendale in the books, Houston is on deck and we will be right back in the saddle on Saturday, October 19 with a live broadcast from NRG Stadium. There are some questions that will be answered when the light goes green at the Rodeo Capital of the World:

  1. Will Grave Digger continue to outshine the Marvel hype and take another overall event win?
  2. Will Bari Musawwir bounce back after fuel pump issues plagued Black Panther?
  3. Which Marvel Monster Jam truck becomes the first to win a competition on a domestic track?
  4. How will Jim and Chris Koehler respond when Team Scream joins the party in Houston?

Tune in Saturday, October 19 at 8 p.m. ET on YouTube, Vizio WatchFree+, PLEX, or Pluto TV to find out!
