The first day of school proved to be extra special for students at New York City’s P.S. 111, Adolph S Ochs Elementary. They were greeted by the Great Clips Mohawk Warrior Monster Jam truck, along with driver Bryce Kenny and special guest All-Star pitcher Noah Syndergaard of the New York Mets.
The school has been recognized by Great Clips as part of the annual “Back to School” campaign. A $40,000 check was presented to school administrators. The money will be used to establish a program to provide hot meals for students who live in temporary housing and fund extracurricular initiatives such as an after-school drama club and an African-inspired music and dance program.
The Great Clips program will donate a total of $400,00 to 100 schools across the U.S. and Canada.
