Two of Monster Jam’s five series saw large swings at the top of the standings as Team Grave Digger ran into issues throughout the weekend.
Stadium Championship Series East – Jacksonville
A tight title battle between Tyler Menninga (Grave Digger) and Bari Musawwir (Zombie) opened last weekend as Grave Digger had an engine failure during JCB Racing. Bari went on to win Racing, Freestyle and the Overall Event Championship, and now holds a 26-point lead over Tyler. Camden Murphy (Classroom Crusher) also had a strong weekend, finishing second overall.
Stadium Championship Series West – Arlington
Positions 1, 2, and 3 in the standings finished 3, 2, 1 in Arlington, meaning the gap between points leader Tristan England (JCB DIGatron), second placed Ryan Anderson (Son-uva Digger) and third placed Bryce Kenny (Monster Mutt) narrowed slightly. Adam Anderson (Grave Digger) defeated his brother in the JCB Racing final to take the first competition win of the night. England then won Skills, but it was Bryce Kenny who brought it home with the Freestyle win and the Overall Event Championship.
Arena Championship Series West – Fresno
There was an instance of parity in the Overall Event Champions for Arena Championship Series West, with Coty Saucier (Dragon), Brianna Mahon (Scooby Doo) and Ashley Sanford (Megalodon) all taking home the Overall during Friday and Saturday’s shows. On Sunday, Weston Anderson (Grave Digger) did what he does best – win – and extended his points lead to 243 points. Tim Hall Jr. (Jurassic Attack) also picked up a Skills Challenge win on Friday. Brianna and Ashley’s championships on Saturday meant that it was a clean sweep for female drivers on International Women’s Day.
Arena Championship Series Central – Grand Rapids
This championship turned on its head over the weekend. Matt Cody (Grave Digger) lost all his points lead and now sits tied with Jon Zimmer Jr. (Terminal Velocity) coming out of the five events in Grand Rapids. However, with just one of the five Overall Event Championships to his name, Zimmer Jr. was not the main star of the weekend. Jamie Sullivan had an incredible weekend, winning four of the five Overall Event Championships, 10 of the 15 competitions, all five JCB Racing events, and pulled off her first career clean sweep on Friday night. Consequently, she now sits just 9 points behind Cody and Zimmer Jr. in third in the standings. Fernando Martinez (El Toro Loco) also picked up two Freestyle wins.
Arena Championship Series East – Hidalgo
Tony Ochs (ThunderROARus) started the weekend strong, winning the Overall Event Championship both on Friday and Saturday afternoon. However, points leader Blake Granger (Monster Mutt Dalmatian) then retook control, winning the remaining three Overall Event Championships. MJ Solorio (El Toro Loco) also picked up one Freestyle and one Skills win. Krysten Anderson (Grave Digger) kicked things off with the JCB Racing win Friday, but then started to have a rough weekend, not helped by mechanical issues in the final event. However, Team Grave Digger got her back out for the final Freestyle of the weekend where she was able to take home the win.
