UNOH Monster Jam Scholarships

Authored by Monster Jam on November 14, 2022

Monster Jam’s appearance in Detroit on March 9-10 provided an unforgettable experience for Tommy Varilone and Josh Krause. The two were recipients of the first Monster Jam scholarships, valued at $2,000 each to attend the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH).

Varilone applied early, mentioning Tom Meents as one of his favorite drivers in the application process. A UNOH admissions representative invited Varilone to meet University President Dr. Jeffrey A. Jarvis at the Monster Jam event. There, Tom Meents joined them to announce Varilone as the winner of the scholarship to attend the University of Northwestern Ohio.

At the Sunday show, Josh Krause was introduced to his favorite driver, Ryan Anderson, who delivered the good news of Krause’s own scholarship.

Both students plan to start classes at UNOH in August. Varilone will be majoring High Performance Motorsports while Krause has his sights set on a dual major of Automotive Technology and High Performance Motorsports.

The University of Northwestern Ohio will be awarding a total of 20 $2,000 Monster Jam University Powered by UNOH scholarships to students throughout the 2019 year.  Scholarship winners must be new incoming students who graduated high school in the Class of 2019 or earlier, they must first apply and be accepted into UNOH, and start classes prior to December 31, 2019.
