Tristan England first arrived in Monster Jam working on his dad’s truck, Big Kahuna. In 2015, Tristan attended Monster Jam University and found himself with his own ride! England has won five series championships and describes himself as “a crazy adrenaline junkie that never sits still!” In 2023, England won his first Monster Jam World Finals racing championship. He then moved to stadium series to compete in the all-new JCB DIGatron, and took the Stadium Series West Championship and Utah Sports Commission 2-Wheel Skills Challenge World Championship in 2025.

about

  • What are some of your interests/hobbies/favorite pastimes?
I love anything sports/racing, of course. My favorite sport has to be golf. Growing up, I played just about every sport to see which one was for me. Now that I am a father, it’s so much fun to see my son play sports. Full circle moments, but if you ask him, he is going to drive a Monster Jam truck when he’s older. I also really enjoy tinkering on anything with wheels. I grew up in a shop, so I am no stranger to a toolbox.
  • Who are your role models?
Shane England, Tom Meents & Lane Frost
  • Do you have any ‘pre-show’ rituals you run through?
I listen to good country music that humbles me up right before I get behind the wheel. I’ll do some stretches, make sure everything is buttoned up on the truck, check with my crew to make sure we are 100% safe, tap on my good luck charm in the cab (which is a picture of my son), and we are ready to DIG!
  • What’s something a lot of people don’t know about you?
I’ve worn many hats besides my ten-gallon one or a racing helmet. I’ve been 300+ft up in the air working on wind turbines and welding pipe that’s stretched for miles in the ground. I have also run equipment since a very young age, and I have my family and farm to thank for that. I believe that running versatile equipment on or off the track makes you a better driver/operator.
  • What is your favorite memory on or off the racetrack?
My favorite memory off the track has to be marrying my best friend, Kierra. She really is my loudest cheerleader!  I have so many favorite memories on the track! Right after winning the Monster Jam World Finals Showdown championship at Vegas in 2017, my father ran down from the stands and gave me the biggest hug. I will never forget that moment.
  • What is your most prized possession?
    My son

life on the road

  • What is the best and worst thing about being on the road every weekend with Monster Jam?
The best has to be meeting new fans everywhere we stop!
The worst really is leaving the family behind when I know they will be cheering me on from the couch.
  • While on the road, what is your favorite thing to do during your free time?
Hangout with my crew, maybe sightsee a little depending on where we’re at. If it’s too cold, we will break out the simulator in the room and get a little “practice” in before event day.
  • How do you keep fit?
Chase my son around the moment I get home – trying to keep up with him and his collection of Spin Master trucks is insane! Haha
  • What item(s) can you not live without while traveling on the road with Monster Jam?
I hate to say it, but my phone. If I didn’t have my phone, I couldn’t call home or get work done, honestly. I do enjoy turning my phone off when I go home though.
  • What is your favorite city to travel to? Why?
So far, it is London. I love the city, the food, the people, and the experience. Always enjoy jumping across the pond.
  • What countries have you visited with Monster Jam?
More than I ever could have imagined: Australia, England, Ireland, Finland, South Africa, Canada. I may be missing a few stops but man what a life! To be able to go compete in all these areas were amazing!

career

  • How did you get started competing in Monster Jam?
I am the son of Shane England, the creator of the Big Kahuna monster truck, so I had to follow in his footsteps. I was racing sport modified for a few years and also ran a few intermission/halftime events at Monster Jam right before I turned 18. I sent in my resumé and was being taught at Monster Jam University a few weeks later.
  • What is your favorite part about competing in Monster Jam?
The camaraderie the drivers have with each other. Yes, we all want to win, but everyone wants to push this sport to the next level. We do that by pushing each other to our limits. It’s the best!
  • How would you describe your driving style?
Controlled Chaos – it’s pretty skillful to jump these 12,000lbs machines around a stadium/arena and still have it all together at the end of the run. But it takes zero skill to roll over, just saying.
  • What advice would you give to kids who want to become a Monster Jam driver?
Don’t ever give up on chasing the dream. If you want it bad enough, you can make it happen. Listen to your parents because they know what they are talking about, get good grades, play sports, and don’t ever forget the golden rule.
  • What is your greatest memory as a Monster Jam driver?
Winning the 2023 Monster Jam World Finals Racing Championship in Nashville. Taking home a trophy in the shape of a guitar from ColdHardArt was amazing.
  • Who in Monster Jam do you look up to for inspiration?
Tom Meents, literally he is 6’6”. I have to look up at him.

fun facts

  • Do you have any nicknames?
    Lil’ Kahuna, Cowboy
  • What’s your favorite movie?
    8 Seconds/Days of Thunder
  • What’s your favorite television show?
    The Lincoln Lawyer
  • What’s your favorite color?
    Blue
  • What’s your favorite thing to eat?
Spaghetti or a big ol’ steak!
  • What’s your favorite restaurant on the road?
Probably Texas Roadhouse, they have a good variety
  • How would your friend and family describe you?
Hard working adrenaline junkie who can’t sit still for too long
