The quest for a Monster Jam\u00ae Triple Threat Series championship comes to a close this weekend as athletes from all three series will roll into their final regular season stop. Close competition has not allowed any athlete to claim the coveted championship early, setting the stage for an exciting weekend.<\/p>\n
The closest race will be played out at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, the final stop of Triple Threat Series East. Justin Sipes (Megalodon\u00ae) has held the point lead since the first event in Birmingham, Alabama, but has never been able to gain some breathing room in the standings. Jared Eichelberger (Max-D\u2122) has been a constant threat, closing the gap to one point on Feb. 24, but slipping in the final show in Richmond, Virginia to 14 points behind. Sipes has led by as much as 31 points at mid-season.<\/p>\n
While Sipes and Eichelberger have been battling, Brandon Vinson (Grave Digger\u00ae) has been steadily making a move toward the top. Vinson stands 26 points out and a pair of good showings early this weekend could change the entire conversation.<\/p>\n
For the second straight year, Grand Rapids, Michigan, will become the place for awarding a Triple Crown championship as the Monster Jam Triple Threat Series Central will wrap up at Van Andel Arena. Tyler Menninga (Grave Digger) has a formidable lead, built on the strength of dominant performances throughout 2018. Menninga can accumulate enough points in Friday\u2019s performance to clinch, but don\u2019t count out Colton Eichelberger (Max-D\u2122) until the numbers are final. Eichelberger can keep his hopes alive by outscoring Menninga by a half dozen points in the Friday opener.<\/p>\n
In Fresno, California, 2017 Double Down Showdown winner Tristan England (EarthShaker\u00ae) is poised to earn a return spot directly into the Monster Jam World Finals field. England stands out in front of the field by 136 points. With only 144 total points over the three-show weekend, England\u2019s chances are good, but that isn\u2019t the only story. An intense battle for second between 2017 Rookie of the Year Camden Murphy (Pirate\u2019s Curse\u2122) and second year competitor Armando Castro (El Toro Loco\u00ae) is raging.
