History
Backwards Bob has always been a curiosity to young and old and it’s easy to see why. The young fans marveled at the truck’s supposed ability to go backwards all the time. The adult fans spent many minutes in pit parties trying to figure it all out.
Backwards Bob first came onto the scene as part of the encore at Monster Jam World Finals in 2008. With driver Mike Wine, the truck entered competition in 2009, eventually going to Europe to compete. It became an international phenomenon and a who’s who of Monster Jam drivers seemingly took a turn behind the wheel. Bari Musawwir made his Monster Jam debut in 2010 as driver of Backwards Bob.
The truck was dormant for a few seasons, returning to Monster Jam competition in 2015 with Bryan Wright as the primary driver. Ryan Huffaker and Frank Krmel each drove the truck in one event. The following year, Kevin Crocker assumed the driving responsibilities, winning a freestyle event in Cedar Rapids, IA and racing in Montgomery, AL.
The truck would end its competitive run at the conclusion of 2016, but returned for a single stop in 2024 with Dalton Widner driving. Widner would win the opening event championship in Spokane.
