Tristan England (Earth Shaker) took home his first World Finals Championship win Saturday night after winning the BKT Racing Championship at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
After qualifying sixth, earning him a first-round bye – the first time since 2012 that the winner has won with a first-round bye – Tristan England defeated Todd LeDuc (Megalodon Neon), Cole Venard (Black Pearl), Brandon Vinson (Grave Digger) and Camden Murphy (Bakugan Dragonoid) en route to his championship.
England was originally meant to go up against John Gordon (Bad Company) in the semi-finals. However, when Gordon could not compete in the semi-finals due to a driveline issue, it was the defending champion Brandon Vinson that England saw himself going up against and defeating.
England had lane choice in the final and chose the red lane, which had been the fastest lane throughout the night. Camden Murphy, who had earned fastest qualifying honors the night before, met him in the final. England had raced Murphy 22 times before, with Murphy winning on 16 of those occasions.
However, this time it was England’s time to emerge victorious, and he can now call himself a World Finals Champion.
