We had a great time bringing you the Monster Jam World Finals Selection Show on Monday and I hope you had as much fun as I did, but with that in the rear-view mirror we can begin planning our trips to the biggest event of the year at Rice-Eccles Stadium on 4th of July weekend.
The “Main Field” and “LCQ” are both stacked this year from top to bottom which will make the competitions even more unpredictable than usual. Among all of the returning drivers who have competed at World Finals before, there are some names set to debut this year at our premier event, so let’s break down our World Finals rookies.
Mike Pagliarulo/Excaliber – The field of 23 sees one debutant in the form of 2024 “Co-Rookie of the Year” Mike Pagliarulo. The youngest song of Team TomFoolery has won over fans and drivers alike with his hard-hitting freestyle runs, evidenced by one of his wins in Miami, and was a fan favorite among those who tuned in live to the selection show. Mike is a popular choice among the Monster Jam internet community to win the BKT Freestyle competition. Also, how cool will it be to see Excaliber compete at World Finals for the first time in history?
Devin Winfield/Velociraptor – The former Monster Jam volunteer had an incredible sophomore season, finishing 2nd on Arena Championship Series West. The Team Throttle Monster driver now can continue his Cinderella Story and drive Velociraptor to back-to-back LCQ wins, which would see Winfield go from USHRA Tech Official to “Main Field” competitor to potentially a World Finals Champion.
MJ Solorio/ El Toro Loco – Speaking of incredible second seasons, MJ Solorio exceeded expectations, finishing as runner up on Arena Championship Series East. The MJU grad improved in every aspect on the track becoming a legitimate threat to win the overall every night he drove “The Crazy Bull” through the tunnel. After cutting his teeth on the independent circuit, “The Cali Kid” could find himself racing into the field of 24 in Salt Lake City.
Fernando Martinez/El Toro Loco – In year 2, the other half of the 2024 “Co-Rookies of the Year” made huge strides contending for a series title in the hotly contested Arena Championship Series Central and now will look to go from “Rigs of Rods” player to LCQ Winner. Martinez is loaded with charisma and talent and will look to apply all his skills in Salt Lake City to go from gaming console to MJU, to World Championship contender.
Triton Robbins/Krazy Train – The Krazy Train is about to roll in Salt Lake City with a Rookie of the Year favorite behind the wheel. Triton has undeniable talent which was also on display on the central series. As the only rookie driver in the Last Chance Qualifier, the second-generation driver could fly under the radar and go from underdog to winner. I don’t think any anyone would be surprised if Krazy Train went off the tracks in Salt Lake City and ended up competing on Friday and Saturday night.
We will have all the World Finals XXIV coverage for you on YouTube and our other streaming channels
