Monster Jam Set to Make Magic with The Rock and Disney

Authored by Scott Jordan on August 16, 2024

Last weekend, the internet was buzzing with announcements coming out of Anaheim, California at D23, the annual entertainment event where Disney announces upcoming projects for the next year. For the Monster Jam community, no moment was more surprising and exciting than when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced his next project with Disney, a Monster Jam movie!

Years ago, “The Rock” was the biggest star in professional wrestling. After a successful transition into films, he is arguably now the biggest movie star on the planet. Nearly everything he attaches his name to becomes successful. After the upcoming sequel, “Moana 2,” is released, Dwayne is set to get to work on this Monster Jam project.

Years ago, Johnson brought his show “Ballers” into the Monster Jam world and, with this new movie announcement, it’s clear that The Rock has a passion for 12,000 pounds of steel pushing 1,500 horsepower. There’s a lot of speculation as to how he and his team at Seven Bucks Productions will approach this film. Will it be told from a driver’s perspective? Will he portray a driver or an executive? Will it be an animated movie? Those questions will surely be answered in the coming months.

It also doesn’t get any bigger than Disney putting their name on this picture. For many years, Feld Entertainment and the Walt Disney Company have partnered to provide premium live entertainment events around the world, so the symmetry between the two companies has already been established. And if history acts as an outline, this partnership is sure to continue shining on the silver screen.

When it comes to being larger than life, Monster Jam is as big as it gets, and when you add the biggest name in Hollywood, and the biggest studio in the world, magic will surely be made when the Monster Jam movie hits theaters. “If ya smelllllllllll, what the Rock is cooking!”
