Blake Granger has won his second Monster Jam World Championship and his first behind the wheel of a Monster Jam truck.
He did it by scoring a Freestyle run of an 8.848 in Monster Mutt Dalmatian at the Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City on Saturday night.
Zach Garner (Wild Side) entered the night with the score to beat from Friday of an 8.713.
While many drivers put on impressive runs with several highlights – including Colt Stephens ripping the front axle off of ThunderROARus and a couple of great saves from Brianna Mahon in Scooby-Doo – Garner was still the points leader after 7 of the 12 Saturday racers had gone.
Blake Granger was the eighth driver to take to the track and delivered a high intensity run with big air and two backflips. He was also the first driver of the night to make good use of 2 Wheel Skills Challenge moves into his run. His run was enough for an 8.848, which gave him the lead.
There were several big names still set to go up after Granger, but many of them crashed out before the clock ran out, leaving just Tyler Menninga (Grave Digger) the last to go.
However, Menninga’s run was over before it even began as he rolled Grave Digger before the first hit, giving Granger the title.
Zach Garner and Weston Anderson joined Blake Granger on the podium in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
