about

  • What are some of your interests/hobbies/favorite pastimes?
Lifting weights and going to the gym! In 2018, I lost over 80lbs. Ever since then, I’ve been addicted to getting my body moving and improving myself physically and mentally. Outside of that, I’ve always enjoyed mountain biking, riding moto, hiking, and anything that gets me outside and active. Through 2010-2019, I also competed in Off-road RC car racing at a national level, which is always a fun story to tell.
  • Who are your role models?
My father. Without him, I wouldn’t be able to live out my dreams, and be who I am today. In Monster Jam, Scott Hartsock truly took me under his wing, and I couldn’t be more grateful for his mentorship.
  • Do you have any pre-event rituals you run through?
Stretching, getting my joints/ muscles warmed up, and listening to music to get in the right headspace to put on the best event for the fans. I like to get in my truck early to get locked in, strapped in, and focused. If I were to say I didn’t also take some pre-workout before hitting the track, I’d be lying.
  • What’s something a lot of people don’t know about you?
Through 2021-2023, I was a certified personal trainer! I took my own love for fitness and improving physical/mental health and spread my knowledge to help others live their best, healthiest lives.
  • What is your favorite memory on or off the racetrack?
My favorite memory is back in summer of 2019 when I first drove a Monster Jam truck in my tryout with Monster Jam. It was truly a feeling of “I made it” after I spent a year losing 80 lbs. to condition my body to drive one of these machines. Other than that, the sights and cities we get to visit on tour is a dream come true!
  • What is your most prized possession?
My body and health. It was neglected through my younger years which led me to being 300lbs by the time I graduated high school. Since then, every day I wake up healthy, I don’t take it for granted.

life on the road

  • What is the best and worst thing about being on the road every weekend with Monster Jam?
The best part is the cities and sights we get to see. I’m visiting places I’ve never been to or even knew existed. The worst is being away from my family and friends back in Georgia.
  • While on tour, what is your favorite thing to do during your free time?
Work on the truck! I take pride in my equipment and am honored that Team Throttle Monster gave me such a nice piece to run, so I try to keep it in good shape. If my truck is good to go, I enjoy exploring the cities and seeing landmarks or hitting a quick workout.
  • How do you keep fit?
I think of my body as a machine, and the food I eat is the fuel. I try to keep my diet clean and count my calories and macro-nutrients. Outside of that, I’ll always try to find a way to hit some weights at the hotel gym or whatever’s available.
  • What item(s) can you not live without while traveling on the road with Monster Jam?
As much as I hate to say it, my phone. It’s what keeps me in touch with my family and friends while I’m on the road.
  • What is your favorite city to travel to? Why?
Tokyo, Japan. My mom is Japanese, and I’m half Japanese. I take pride in that. Granted I’ve only been a few times, but the memories from those trips have stuck with me.
  • What countries have you visited with Monster Jam?
Right now just the US but performing in Japan is a dream of mine.

career

  • How did you get started competing in Monster Jam?
Back in 2018, I lost over 80 lbs. to condition and prepare my body to drive a Monster Jam truck safely at the expectation I set for myself. At my heaviest weight of 300 lbs., I did not feel confident in myself physically to put up with the thrashing one of these 12,000 lb. beasts put you through. By the end of 2018, I successfully lost over 80 lbs. and Feld Entertainment and Monster Jam saw the dedication I had to succeed. After trying out with them in 2019, training at Monster Jam University through that summer, I found my seat with Team Throttle Monster a few years later!
  • What is your favorite part about competing in Monster Jam?
The fan interaction. My dad brought me to my first Monster Jam back in the early 2000s at the Georgia Dome, and every time I see a young kid in the audience, it reminds me of my younger self and lights a fire in me to do the best I can and give 100 percent. Other than that, the comradery and friendships that I’ve made over the years are friendships that’ll last a lifetime.
  • How would you describe your driving style?
On your toes. Sometimes, it’s hard to know what one of these Monster Jam trucks are going to do off of an awkward landing, so I try to drive loose and constantly adapt to what the truck is doing/how it’s behaving.
  • What advice would you give to kids who want to become a Monster Jam driver?
Never lose sight! The harder you work for something, the better it feels when you make it a reality. Nobody has a right to tell you that you can’t do something, and there’s no better feeling than proving someone wrong when they said you couldn’t do something.
  • What is your greatest memory as a Monster Jam driver?
Honestly, just being able to say that I made it. When I first drove a Monster Jam truck back in 2019, it was a feeling of accomplishment I’ll never forget. I was able to say those long nights in the gym, those hours in the kitchen meal-prepping, and the blood, sweat, and tears I took to bettering my body was worth it.
  • Who in Monster Jam do you look up to for inspiration?
Rest in peace, Scott Hartsock. He was a mentor of mine, both on and off the track.

fun facts

  • What’s your favorite television show?
    Ghost Adventures
  • What’s your favorite color?
    Blue
  • What’s your favorite thing to eat?
    Sushi
  • What’s your favorite restaurant on the road?
Some of the best food I’ve had are in these little hole-in-the-wall places so anywhere that isn’t well known or a popular chain.
  • How would your friends and family describe you?
Ambitious and persistent; not someone who loses sight of a goal, and someone who makes things happen
