Jon Zimmer Jr. became the latest driver to clinch a series championship last weekend as Monster Jam roared into East Rutherford, Southaven, and Colorado Springs.
Stadium East – East Rutherford
Just one event now remains in Stadium Championship Series East, and just one point separates Grave Digger’s Tyler Menninga and Zombie’s Bari Musawwir, who have had a back-and-forth season-long points battle. Menninga entered the weekend behind Musawwir in points, but then went on to win JCB Racing and, most importantly, the Overall Event Championship, giving him the 1-point edge heading into Pittsburgh. Armando Castro (El Toro Loco) won Skills, while Joe Foley had an impressive Freestyle run in AXE that gave him the win.
Arena Central – Southaven
Jon Zimmer Jr. (Terminal Velocity) clinched the title Saturday night during the Skills Challenge, when his second-place finish behind Triton Robbins (Krazy Train) secured enough points to clinch the title. There is still a great battle between Matt Cody (Grave Digger) and Jamie Sullivan (Sparkle Smash) who left the Landers Center last weekend tied on championship points for second. The Robbins brothers had a strong weekend, with Triton winning three of the four JCB Racing competitions and three of the four Overall Event Championships, and Montana (Plane Krazy) winning the opening JCB Racing event of the weekend. Fernando Castro (El Toro Loco) also impressed with a great save during Sunday’s Skills Challenge, which gave him the competition victory.
Arena East – Colorado Springs
Zack Garner (Wild Side), usually a driver in Stadium Championship Series West, entered Colorado Springs as a fill-in driver this weekend and took home two JCB Racing victories. Krysten Anderson (Grave Digger) picked up a Freestyle win on Friday. Otherwise, every competition throughout the weekend was won by either points leader Blake Granger (Monster Mutt Dalmatian) or El Toro Loco’s MJ Solorio. Blake won three out of the four Overall Event Championships, while MJ won the fourth, but two remaining points weekends means the title isn’t Blake’s just yet.
