Last Saturday night was magical at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana, not only because some of the best and brightest stars in the sport were competing on one of our many livestreams on YouTube, but also because it marked the first career Overall Event Championship for one of the new rising stars in Monster Jam, Plane Krazy’s Montana Robbins.
Since debuting in Monster Jam last summer, Montana and his older brother Triton have taken the sport by storm. There is no denying the impressive appearance of Plane Krazy and Krazy Train, and now there’s no denying the advanced skill set of the drivers behind the wheels of those awesome machines.
Plane Krazy began the night with a JCB Timed Racing win which would kick start the quest for the championship trophy. Next up it was a highlight reel performance in the 2-Wheel Skills Challenge, which you can find on our Instagram page, that kept Robbins on top of the leaderboard. Finally, a consistent Freestyle run, allowed Montana to “fly away” with the Cold Hard Art hardware.
The celebration was on the moment Montana was announced as the winner, when all the drivers stormed back on to the track to shower their newest champion with a celebratory water bath. At just 19 years old, Montana Robbins is a prodigy. A second-generation driver out of Buffalo, New York, whose father Bob was known for driving Aftershock. And at 19 years old, Montana Robbins is now a champion. The first of many I’m sure, and I would count on his older brother Triton to win quite a few himself as the year continues.
The Robbins brothers came into the sport with a lot of hype, and they have showed flashes of greatness which has allowed them to live up to every expectation. We know Monster Jam has a history of crowning “Co-Rookies of the Year” and, if that trend continues in 2025, don’t be surprised if they not only share the award, but also share the same last name.
