EVENT NOTES

Sometimes you lose to bad news. And that’s exactly what happened here in Wilkes-Barre. The final event of the weekend was all about Brandon Derrow and Team Bad News Travels Fast. He was able to once again deliver the bad news during Timed Racing with an impressive time of 8.830. He put down an incredible 2-Wheel Skills Challenge performance, but it was Dragon’s Darren Migues that was able to walk that truck away with the win. Brandon Derrow also had a strong Freestyle, putting him in second place behind Zane Rettew and Stinger Unleashed. His teammate Quinten Barto came through in the ATV competitions, taking the win in ATV Racing and making it to the final round in ATV Obstacle Course. For the first time since Milwaukee, WI, in 2017, Brandon Derrow was announced as the Overall Event Champion. As his family and the Bad News Travels Fast team made their way to the pod, the other drivers joined in the celebration as Brandon Derrow finally had his championship moment.

EVENT NOTES

Saturday night’s event was off to an exciting start as Brandon Derrow delivered bad news to the competition taking the win in Timed Racing. Zane Rettew defended his victories in the 2-Wheel Skills Challenge and Freestyle Competition. But with a win in ATV Obstacle Course, second place in Timed Racing, and second place in the 2-Wheel Skills Challenge, Randy Brown and Team Grave Digger would be declared the Overall Event Champion. But the excitement didn’t stop there. It was announced tonight that Downtown Randy Brown had scored enough points to be named the Arena Series Champion! Fans were on their feet as the black and green wrecking machine took its place in history, earning the berth to Monster Jam World Finals XX in Orlando!

EVENT NOTES

The second event was underway here in Wilkes-Barre. As we began with Timed Racing, Kaylyn Migues was the Top Dog with a time of 9.406. That was not only a great win, but was her first Timed Racing win of her Monster Jam career. The remainder of the event was dominated by the Rettew Family. Lindsey Rettew from Pretty Wicked’s favorite competition is the Donuts and, with her first-place finish, it was easy to understand why. She was looking very confident, using that Rear Steer and maintaining control the entire time. Her husband Zane Rettew in Stinger Unleashed was also dominant. He won the 2 Wheel Skills Challenge with some nice moves including a Reverse Popper. He wasn’t done there.  He continued on to win the Freestyle Competition as well. This locked in the Overall Event Championship for Zane Rettew!

EVENT NOTES

The weather in Wilkes-Barre may have been dreary outside, but that didn’t stop all of the action inside the Mohegan Sun Arena. Fans were treated to Timed Racing right off the bat. There was a new face on the pod after all eight trucks turned in their fastest time, and that face was Devin Jones. The only other time he won timed racing this year was in Washington, D.C. It was a big moment for team Barbarian. The two top dogs were out to play as well. We’re talking about Team Scooby-Doo!, and Team Monster Mutt Dalmatian.  Linsey Read in Scooby-Doo! came in second in Monster Jam Donuts, while Kayln Migues in Monster Mutt Dalmatian got second place in Timed Racing. These ladies were competing with confidence, as it was just recently announced that both of them got selected to compete in the upcoming Showdown happening at Monster Jam World Finals XX in Orlando, FL. The night really belonged to Randy Brown in Grave Digger. He proved to be unstoppable once again with wins in 2-Wheel Skills Challenge, Monster Jam Donuts, and finally Monster Jam Freestyle, thus clinching the first overall event championship here in Wilkes-Barre.
