For the past 15 years the Monster Jam Season kicked off in downtown Columbus, Ohio at Nationwide Arena. Tonight's Monster Jam was different from all other events that have taken place here. There was two new competitions added to the program for more Monster Jam truck excitement for the great fans of Columbus. The first element was the new Monster Jam Obstacle course and the second was a Donut Competition. The Obstacle Course took the place of straight line racing which had been a staple at Monster Jam events. This change would give the fans a true sense of how hard it is to drive these ten thousand pound machines in such a tight area. The first ever winner of this event was Grave Digger who had the fastest time of 32.16 seconds. Second fastest was El Toro Loco with a 34.75 followed by Team Hot Wheels Firestorm with a time of 36.97 seconds.
Two of the events that remained the same were the Wheelie contest and Monster Jam Freestyle. The Wheelie contest did see a new twist as each Monster Jam truck had to perform not one but four wheelies to get their score from the judges. It was thrilling to see 24 Wheelies from eight Monster Jam Trucks especially El Toro Loco. Marc McDonald would win tonight's Wheelie contest with a high score of thirty edging out Grave Digger by one point from the bonus judge because of the tie. In Freestyle it was Monster Mutt Dalmatian who had the fans on their feet with some spectacular air and great saves to fall one point short to Grave Digger who would win by a score of 27. Speaking of Monster Mutt Dalmatian! Candice Jolly won tonight's Donut contest with a high score of 28 which was four points higher than second place finisher El Toro Loco who scored a 24. Here are tonight's results.

Saturday 2:00pm.
The second of three shows started today with a packed house for the Party in the Pits. Everyone was excited to meet with the super stars of Monster Jam before today's show. The first event of the day was The Wheelie contest as each competitor had four chances to impress the judges. Monster Mutt Dalmatian was the winner with a high score of 25 giving Candice Jolly a second win for the weekend. She defeated second place finishers El Toro Loco and Grave Digger who each scored a 24.
The new Monster Jam Obstacle Course was next and Grave Digger again would have the fastest time of the day and take his second consecutive win in this category. Grave Diggers time was a 27.03 defeating Mohawk Warrior by a full second. El Toro Loco was third with a time of 28.44 followed by Monster Mutt Dalmatian with a time of 32.51.
Monster Jam Donuts a new element added to this Monster Jam was again tricky for all Monster Jam Trucks. The dirt is so tacky that only three out of eight Monster Jam Trucks were able to break the rear tires loose and one resulting in a roll over which was El Toro Loco. Grave Digger scored the highest with a 22, one point higher than El Toro Loco who had a 21. The shock came when the fans thought that Stinger had the best donut when all was said but not in the eye of the judges. From there the momentum stayed in Grave Digger's favor as he took that win and converted it into a spectacular Freestyle score a almost perfect score of 29. El Toro Loco was second with a 25. What a great time to come back to Columbus for Monster Jam. It has been since 2009 since I was last here with the great fans and tonight was awesome. There is going to be at least two nominations for the awards banquet after Vegas and one is the Arena Wheelie of the year and the other The Save of the Year. The instigator had an awesome sky wheelie on one of his four attempts that had the crowd on their feet and Jon Zimmer in Grave Digger was on two front tires looking like it was going over end and stooped it put it in reverse and backed out of it. AMAZING!
There was three different winners in tonight's competitions and the first was Grave Digger winning the Wheelie Contest with a high score of 30. Grave Digger then would win the Monster Jam Obstacle course with a time of 30.00 edging out Team Hot Wheels Firestorm who had a time of 32.30. It was then Team Hot Wheels Firestorm turn to take home a trophy and it would be in the Donut contest. Scott Buetow spun Team Hot Wheels Firestorm into a great donut and at the last revolution the back tire bit and over he went on to his roof. The last winner of the night was El Toro Loco as he won freestyle with a high score of 24 ending the weekend with two wins the first of the weekend and the last. Here are tonight's results.
