Double Down Showdown Competitor Announcement
The field of 16 Double Down Showdown ® competitors will be filled today with four planned announcements. This year’s field will include a mix of returning competitors with some new names making their first appearances.
Our first group spent 2018 competing in the Stadium Championship Series. It includes two first-time competitors.
Austin Minton (Bounty Hunter) joined Jimmy’s Creten’s 2Xtreme Racing for the 2018 Monster Jam competition. Minton made his Monster Jam debut in Toronto and competed with Stadium Championship Series 4 for 11 events. He scored second in Freestyle in Arlington and picked up five Racing wins on the season.
Brad Allen (Monster Mutt® Rottweiler), who celebrates a birthday today (March 15), will be a newcomer to the Double Down Showdown competition. Allen has been competing as a part of Team Scream since 2010. This year, he joined Stadium Championship Series 1 and had a fourth place finish in Freestyle in Atlanta.
Cory Rummell (Pirate’s Curse™) is also celebrating a birthday on the day of his Double Down Showdown announcement. This year, he scored his first career Racing Championship at the Stadium Championship Series 2 finale in Oakland. He had recorded his first career Monster Jam Freestyle win in Green Bay, Wisconsin in late 2017. Rummell competed in the 2017 Double Down Showdown.
Matt Pagliarulo (Jester) is a return competitor after making his first Double Down Showdown start last year. The 2017 Rising Star award winner ran up a 7-6 racing record while competing on Stadium Championship Series 1, picking up a top five Freestyle finish at the series opener in Anaheim.
Additional Double Down Showdown announcements are planned for 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. today. The winner of the Double Down Showdown, which will be held on Friday, March 23, will receive a berth in Monster Jam World Finals® XIX.
