What are some of your interests/hobbies/favorite pastimes?
Zane Rettew: Hershey Bears hockey games with my sons.
Who are your role models?
Zane Rettew: Gary Porter – he is a great competitor on the track and truly great person off the track.
Do you have any ‘pre-show’ rituals you run through?
Zane Rettew: Yes, I even have a big sticker in my truck that says "Remember when you were a fan so give it a hundred percent all the time."
What's something a lot of people don't know about you?
Zane Rettew: I have OCD. I’m a complete clean freak and have to have things organized.
What is your favorite memory on or off the racetrack?
Zane Rettew: Competing at the Monster Jam World Finals 18.
What is your most prized possession?
Zane Rettew: My monster truck tank "Car Killer"
Life on the Road with Monster Jam
What is the best and worst thing about being on the road every weekend with Monster Jam?
Zane Rettew: Best: doing what I love! Being where I love to be – wheeling a Monster Jam truck; Worst: no weekends at home and being away from my wife and kids
While on the road, what is your favorite thing to do during your free time?
Zane Rettew: There is no free time while we are on the road. When we are not traveling, we are working on our Monster Jam trucks.
How do you keep fit?
Zane Rettew: I love to go to the gym and try to go at least 3 times a week. I really have started to love running.
What item(s) can you not live without while traveling on the road with Monster Jam?
Zane Rettew: My phone and computer
What is your favorite city to travel to? Why?
Zane Rettew: Any city in my state of Pennsylvania
Career
How did you get started competing in Monster Jam?
Zane Rettew: I shadowed former world champion John Seasock when I was in grade school, and he gave me the drive to pursue this crazy dream. My wife and I built our first truck in 2011 and started competing with Monster Jam in 2014.
What is your favorite part about competing in Monster Jam?
Zane Rettew: Meeting and competing against the guys I idolized as a kid, and also meeting and encouraging our youth to follow their dreams when I meet them at our Pit Parties.
How would you describe your driving style?
Zane Rettew: Aggressive
What advice would you give to kids who want to become a Monster Jam driver?
Zane Rettew: Never, ever give up. If you want something and work hard enough for it. Anything is possible.
What is your greatest memory as a Monster Jam driver?
Zane Rettew: Beating Gary Porter in the racing finals in Tulsa, Ok and also competing at Monster Jam World Finals 18
Who in Monster Jam do you look up to for inspiration?
Zane Rettew: I always find myself asking Alex Blackwell for advice. He’s a great friend and ambassador for our sport.
