What are some of your interests/hobbies/favorite pastimes?
Shane England: Anything off-road, working on the ranch and spending time with my family.
Who are your role models?
Shane England: My father.
Do you have any ‘pre-show’ rituals that you run through?
Shane England: I have a certain way that I like to strap into the truck. I do a pre-race prayer once I’m strapped in for all of my fellow racers and fans that everything goes smooth and everyone makes it home safely.
What’s something a lot of people don’t know about you?
Shane England: I love raising cattle.
What is your favorite memory on or off the racetrack?
Shane England: Monster Jam World Finals in 2017 when my son Tristan England won the Double Down Showdown. It was an amazing moment after watching him grow as a race since he was five years old to today as he competes in a Monster Jam truck.
What is your most prized possession?
Shane England: My family.
Life on the Road with Monster Jam
What is the best and worst thing about being on the road every weekend with Monster Jam?
Shane England: Best thing is getting to see the country from coast to coast and spending time with my Monster Jam family.
While on the road, what is your favorite thing to do during your free time?
Shane England: I usually don’t have much free time but when I do, I like to cook at my hauler and visit with other teams. Trail riding or sight-seeing at the different locations across the country is fun too.
How do you keep fit?
Shane England: Working on my truck every week is like CrossFit. Loading and unloading those 66” BKT tires is a workout!
What item(s) can you not live without while traveling on the road with Monster Jam?
Shane England: Flip flops and peanut M&Ms.
What is your favorite city to travel to? Why?
> Shane England: Arlington, TX. I grew up there and it is the closest event to a hometown show on the Monster Jam tour. There are always a lot of Big Kahuna fans in attendance!
How did you get started competing in Monster Jam?
Shane England: I started helping another team back in 2006. I crewed for them on my time-off of work and enjoyed learning all about Monster Jam trucks. Then I made the decision to compete on my own and haven’t looked back since.
What is your favorite part about competing in Monster Jam?
Shane England: The fans! I love meeting everyone and having conversations about racing. It’s all about the experience when they spend their hard-earned money to come see us and I want to make it an experience that they will never forget.
How would you describe your driving style?
Shane England: On the edge and unscripted.
What advice would you give to kids who want to become a Monster Jam driver?
Shane England: Follow your dreams and never give up. Pit in the work and you can make anything happen.
What is your greatest memory as a Monster Jam driver?
Shane England: Going for three consecutive back-flips in El Paso, TX in 2017. I almost nailed it, but I’ll eventually get it.
Who in Monster Jam do you look up to for inspiration?
Shane England: Tom Meents for his championships and Dennis Anderson for his perseverance in the sport.
