I was a gunsmith by trade for almost 15 years prior to getting into monster trucks. I had a jacked-up Ford F-150 with 44" tires. Life on the Road with Monster Jam

>What is the best and worst thing about being on the road every weekend with Monster Jam?
Scott Hartsock:
Traveling has its ups and downs. I meet a lot of great people and get to see the world. However, I have had to sacrifice a lot of important dates for family functions that I will not be able to get back. Family needs to be very supportive in this industry. Communication and understanding plays a key role.

While on the road, what is your favorite thing to do during your free time?
Scott Hartsock:
Visit all the Bass Pro and outdoor specialty shops in whatever area I am in.

How do you keep fit?
Scott Hartsock:
I have a morning workout routine that I stick to religiously. I eat a balanced diet, drink a lot of water and avoid most snacks.

What item(s) can you not live without while traveling on the road with Monster Jam?
Scott Hartsock:
My phone - it’s my lifeline to what's going on at home, in the news and with my friends.

What is your favorite city to travel to? Why?
Scott Hartsock:
Indianapolis, Indiana, the race mecca of all motorsports.

How did you get started competing in Monster Jam?
Scott Hartsock:
I began by building up my street truck which was a Ford F-150 on 44's; kept fabricating bigger and better parts as I continued to develop my own driving skill. I had to prove myself to the USHRA. Once that was accomplished, I continued moving up the ranks and eventually became one of the top names in Monster Jam.

What is your favorite part about competing in Monster Jam?
Scott Hartsock:
Being a part of something I truly have a passion for; meeting so many people that have the same dream I had, but I actually got the chance to live it.

How would you describe your driving style?
Scott Hartsock:
More conservative due to being owner/operator. I value my equipment and take pride in my ride.

What advice would you give to kids who want to become a Monster Jam driver?
Scott Hartsock:
Educate yourself to the best of your mechanical ability. Learn from others. Listen carefully to all the drivers and what they bring to the game. Each person has a unique way of making it their own.

What is your greatest memory as a Monster Jam driver?
Scott Hartsock:
Being recognized as one of the few owner/operators that have survived this industry and the technology that has developed over the years.
