What are some of your interests/hobbies/favorite pastimes?
Lee O’Donnell: I enjoy racing my off-road truck at local events, participating in offshore fishing tournaments and riding quads with my daughters Katelyn and Lindsey.
Who are your role models?
Lee O’Donnell: My mom.
Do you have any ‘pre-show’ rituals you run through?
Lee O’Donnell: Not really. I’ve bounced in and out of so many different Monster Jam trucks and none of them were ever the same. However, as soon as I sit in the truck, I do have the same routine – the way I put on my helmet, the way I buckle up, all the way down to putting my radio in and the steering wheel on. Just taking care of my little office area!
What’s something a lot of people don’t know about you?
Lee O’Donnell: With as much posting we do on social media, there’s not much my fans don’t know about me!
What is your favorite memory on or off the racetrack?
Lee O’Donnell: I There are so many memorable moments, and I can write down and number of wins, but I have to say meeting a few veterans from the Wounded Warrior Project in San Antonio, Texas. The soldiers and their families who have sacrificed so much for our country and shared their stories so openly that I will never forget them and what they have done to protect our country.
What is your most prized possession?
Lee O’Donnell: My BMX bike from my teenage years that was just recently refurbished.
Life on the Road with Monster Jam
What is the best and worst thing about being on the road every weekend with Monster Jam?
Lee O’Donnell: The worst part is being away from home and my family. The best is meeting new and old fans and the experience of traveling with my Monster Jam family.
While on the road, what is your favorite thing to do during your free time?
Lee O’Donnell: Steak dinners on Friday nights with my Crew Chief Brian Maes.
How do you keep fit?
Lee O’Donnell: Jogging and riding quads with my daughters.
What item(s) can you not live without while traveling on the road with Monster Jam?
Lee O’Donnell: My BOSE noise cancelling headset, and my Dirt Empire cup.
What is your favorite city to travel to? Why?
Lee O’Donnell: San Antonio. It’s the home of VP Racing Fuels, the Riverwalk and I have numerous freestyle wins at the Alamodone.
How did you get started competing in Monster Jam?
Lee O’Donnell: With parents with racing backgrounds, I started competing in off-road motorsports at 16 in local events with the East Coast 4-Wheel Drive Association. In 1997, I made the leap to 7’s which is now called Pro-Lite and ran in the SODA series. I ran in the short course circuit for many years with success. At a Pace Series stadium off-road racing event, I commented to the woman running the registration desk that I would love to drive one of those trucks. She said that she would make that happen. Her husband happened to be Mike Wales. It was her and Bill Easterly who encourages me to make the move to Monster Jam trucks. Mike took me under his wing and mentored me throughout my career.
What is your favorite part about competing in Monster Jam?
Lee O’Donnell: Winning! And having 60,000 fans cheering me on and the trophies obviously!
How would you describe your driving style?
Lee O’Donnell: Calculated and consistent.
What advice would you give to kids who want to become a Monster Jam driver?
Lee O’Donnell: Work hard and don’t give up on your dreams.
What is your greatest memory as a Monster Jam driver?
Lee O’Donnell: Wow, so many and they are all special! Monster Jam World Finals 15 when I was driving Iron Man, even though we lost in the racing finals against Tom, the overwhelming reaction from the fans in Sam Boyd Stadium was better than a trophy for me!
Who in Monster Jam do you look up to for inspiration?
Lee O’Donnell: Dennis Anderson for his contribution to the sport and encouragement over the years.

Lee O’Donnell: Laid back, always living in the moment, focused when it’s game time, extremely loyal to those that are close and always glass half full.
