Weekend Recap: The 2025 Monster Jam Season Begins

Authored by Samuel Reiman on January 8, 2025

The 2025 Monster Jam season is underway, as the five domestic series of Monster Jam were all in action last weekend for 14 separate events. Here’s how it all went down:

Stadium Championship Series East – San Diego

A lot of eyes were on San Diego last weekend, where two brand new Monster Jam trucks were unveiled: Classroom Crusher and Mayhem. Defending champion Tyler Menninga (Grave Digger) kicked things off Saturday evening with the JCB Racing win, followed by Armando Castro (El Toro Loco) winning Skills in his first year as a full-time Stadium Series driver. Chris Koehler then gave Mayhem its first competition win in Freestyle, while Armando won the Overall. Menninga came back on Sunday to win JCB Racing and Skills as well the second Overall, giving him the points lead. Bari Musawwir (Zombie) won Freestyle on Sunday.

Stadium Championship Series West – Anaheim

A lot of the hype on Stadium Championship Series West is on the sibling rivalry between Ryan Anderson (Son-uva Digger) and Adam Anderson (Grave Digger). However, fans should not sleep on Bryce Kenny, who switched rides over the break from Mohawk Warrior to Monster Mutt. Ryan Anderson and Bryce Kenny leave Anaheim tied on points, with one Overall Event Championship apiece as the series heads to Kanas City. Among the other winners from Anaheim were Tristan England (JCB DIGatron) who won Skills on Saturday, Todd LeDuc (Megalodon) who won Freestyle on Saturday, and Jamey Garner (El Toro Loco) who won Freestyle Sunday after being the first Monster Jam truck on track.

Arena Championship Series West – Salt Lake City

Fans expecting Weston Anderson (Grave Digger) to crush the competition en route to his fourth consecutive championship may have been disappointed by the fact that Brianna Mahon (Scooby-Doo) won the very first Monster Jam competition of 2025 with the JCB Racing win. That disappointment would have been short lived. Weston then proceeded to go on a tear, winning 8 of the 16 competitions of the weekend and all four Overall Event Championships, with some impressive moves along the way. Brianna picked up five of the competition wins, while the other three went to Coty Saucier in Dragon.

Arena Championship Series Central – Nashville

The series with the most parity during Week 1 goes the way of Arena Championship Series Central, with six of the eight drivers picking up competition wins. These wins included:

  • Triton Robbins (Krazy Train) picking up his first win as a full-time Monster Jam driver in JCB Racing
  • Montana Robbins (Plane Krazy) picking up his first ever competition win in the Skills Challenge
  • Jon Zimmer Jr. (Terminal Velocity) defeating his dad Jon Zimmer Sr. (Zombie) in a JCB Racing final.

The elder Zimmer didn’t leave Nashville empty handed though. In fact, he won his first Overall Event Championship in nearly six years on Saturday afternoon. Fernando Martinez (El Toro Loco) leads the points, but the top 5 are covered by just 11 points.

Arena Championship Series East – Greenville

Much like in Nashville, there were six separate drivers in the eight-driver field taking home competition wins in Greensville, SC, during Week 1. Blake Granger (Monster Mutt Dalmatian) kicked things off by returning from the International Series to almost sweep the events on Saturday afternoon. He then continued on his winning ways Saturday evening, winning another two competitions and taking the Overall for the second time of the day. However, the pendulum then swung in Krysten Anderson’s favor on Sunday, as she won Freestyle in Grave Digger to secure the Overall Event Championship. MJ Solorio (El Toro Loco) also made history with his first Skills Challenge win on Sunday.
