Todd LeDuc (Megalodon Stars & Stripes) won the first portion of the JCB Racing World Championship at Monster Jam World Finals Friday night at the Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
LeDuc advances to the World Championship final, which will be held on Saturday.
LeDuc’s win comes just one day after announcing that he would stepping away from full-time competition in Monster Jam following this weekend.
LeDuc was the fourth fastest qualifier on Thursday, which allowed him to take a Bye in Round 1. He went up against Brianna Mahon (Scooby-Doo) in Round 2, after Mahon had taken an upset win in Round 1 against Adam Anderson in Grave Digger The Legend.
In the quarter-finals, LeDuc went up against Tyler Menninga (Grave Digger), and only just narrowly beat him across the finish line.
The Friday final was between LeDuc and the 16th-fastest qualifier Dalton Widner (Jurassic Attack). However, the stats were in Widner’s favor, as he had been faster throughout the night and had defeated LeDuc in their only previous meeting at SoFi Stadium last year.
However, the red lane proved to be the better lane throughout the night, and LeDuc was able to use it to cross the line first and advance to Saturday’s final.
