Happy New Year everyone and welcome back to my weekly editorials! The 2025 Monster Jam season kicked off with a bang in five cities last weekend and we are going to take a look at five major takeaways going into week two.
- Classroom Crusher is AWESOME! – The buzz was real when the first teaser video for Classroom Crusher arrived on social media. Camden Murphy’s new ride debuted at Snapdragon Stadium last weekend to major fanfare, soaring out of the tunnel in San Diego and living up to the hype. Murphy is the perfect driver for this six-ton bus that’s too cool for school and I am excited to see him continue to “crush” the competition in 2025.
- Arena Championship Series Central is STACKED! – This series has the potential to be the most tightly contested tour in the sport this season and through three events we are certainly seeing why. Eleven points separate the top five drivers with 2024 Monster Jam Co-Rookie of the Year Fernando Martinez currently leading the way. Seven different drivers have won a competition so far and I imagine we will see the eighth in the winner’s circle very soon. I know it’s early, but I’d love to hear who you have winning the Central.
- Bryce Kenny Looks Rejuvenated! – Don’t look now but Bryce Kenny is tied atop the leaderboard on Stadium Championship Series West. The North Carolina native said goodbye to his mohawk and hello to the Dog Pound and so far the move looks to be paying off. Kenny has a new haircut, but he also has a new swagger and a new confidence which led to him his first Overall Event Championship in Anaheim and may very well lead him to the first series title of his career.
- The International Champ is Here! – Yes I did somewhat take that from John Cena but its relevant here as the International Series Champion got himself a new whip and now Blake Granger is trying to lay waste to the East. Granger took two out of the first three events in Greenville to make a statement however former champ Krysten Anderson isn’t backing down and currently leads the series. There is quite a battle brewing on the east coast.
- Weston Anderson is Still Good! – OK, so this is a very obvious statement but no matter how good you are it’s still a daunting task to win all four events in one weekend right? Apparently not, if your name is Weston Anderson. The three-time series winner marched into the Delta Center and dominated from the get-go earning 113 out of a possible 128 points. That math seems pretty good. Weston’s first weekend in Salt Lake City was victorious but will it ultimately lead him to victory in the last weekend in Salt Lake City at World Finals? Only time will tell.
