Fans journeying to the 10th annual Monster Jam NGK Spark Plugs World Finals on March 28th 2009, were prepared to see an entire decade of destruction unfold within the confines of Sam Boyd Stadium and who better to lead that charge than Tom Meents driving Maximum Destruction! Meents was on his way to a spectacular freestyle run when Maximum Destruction flipped over early and that was it.

Anyone who knows Monster Jam, knows that Tom Meents is not a man who gives up easy. For the 10th annual Monster Jam NGK Spark Plugs World Finals, Tom had something else up his sleeve. Once the freestyle portion of the night ended, an amazing decade of destruction video played and by far the greatest fireworks display in Monster Jam World Finals history brought the sold out crowd to their feet. As soon as the last firework had gone off, a truck fired up and came racing down Thunder Alley. Sure enough Tom Meents piloting his backup Maximum Destruction headed directly for the center of the stadium floor and gunned his engine at the back of the massive center jump. With fans watching in awe, Maximum Destruction smashed into the back of the jump and rotated backwards, not once, but one and a half times!!! Tom Meents proved that not only can the monster truck backflip be done, he could go even bigger than that and do a backflip and a half.
