Weekend Race Recap

Saturday, October 24, 2009 will long be remembered as the first Monster Jam in Barcelona. Judging from the crowd the stories from that night will be told for many years to come. Thousands of fans packed Olympic Stadium to see Donkey Kong driven by Lee O'Donnel win in racing and Charlie Pauken take Grave Digger to the freestyle win.

The night was full of fun and action from the very beginning with classic American Cars, Custom built choppers and xtreme dance teams all providing pre-show entertainment.

Ten big monsters, autocross racers, FMX and Steve D'renzo's fire fall from 30 meters kept things going non-stop for 2 ½ hrs. It is very hard to describe Monster Jam to someone who has never experienced the thrill of this spectacular. Now everyone will be telling the Monster Jam story till the return next year.

FMX saw 5 incredible riders perform some of the most challenging tricks including backflips, holyman, Kiss of Death and more. Fans love FMX in Europe but this was beyond anything many had ever seen before. The international riders were among the best of the best.

Freestyle Monster action featured a competition comparable to the World Finals in Las Vegas. Rollovers from Grave Digger, El Toro Loco, Nitro Circus made the night special but also showed how hard it is for even the best drivers to keep it on the track.

High jumps over the FMX landing hill, the side jumps and rollers provided the trucks with plenty of things to hit and run over. In the end Grave Digger driven by Charlie Pauken beat Daman Bradshaws Backwards Bob run by two bonus points.

Freestyle Results:
Batman John Seasock 6,5,5, bonus 2 18
Monster Mutt Candice Jolly 6,6,8 bonus 2 22
