Weekend Race Recap

Friday -
Three winners for three competitions for Monster Jam Friday Night at the Time Warner Cable Arena left fans cheering for more. Try as they might nobody could manage a double down win. No wonder with the best competition in the country going at it wheel to wheel. If Advance Auto Parts works to keep the wheels turning, the Monster Jam drivers kept them going faster and faster. Wins for War Wizard, Grave Digger and Gunslinger proved that any truck can win at any time. These are the best vehicles in the world and the action Friday night proved that.

Grave Digger driven by Gary Porter broke in the first round of racing forcing him out of the rest of the race action. Porter and his crew worked thru the intermission and most of freestyle to get ready to come out for the competition. He won with his non stop high jumping action.

Randy Moore won the wheelie competition. Scott Hartsock drove Grave Digger to a win in racing and Grave Digger won freestyle.

Saturday 2pm -

Saturday afternoon began early with the Built Ford Tough party in the pits at 11am. Fans from the entire region came out early to meet their favorite driver and see the big monsters up close and personal. Before anyone knew it, the clock said 2pm and it was showtime.

The first roll over of the weekend was Lenny Kuilder in Prowler. The truck rolled after a bad landing in round one racing. Prowler was out for the rest of the afternoon with the crew attempting to put things right for the 7:30 pm show.

Gary Porter attempted to again double down but could only earn a win in freestyle for Team Grave Digger. Grave Digger came up short in the Wheelie Competition and in racing.

The lucky dog of the day had to be Gunslinger and Scott Hartsock. Gunslinger lost to War Wizard in the semi-final round but came back to face Grave Digger in the finals when War Wizard lost steering and needed more repairs than could be performed in the few minutes between racing rounds.

Saturday Evening -
The final event of the weekend in Charlotte saw Gunslinger win his third race win of the weekend. "After last weekend this feels really good," said driver Scott Hartsock. Gunslinger has been to the World Finals in Las Vegas before and with wins like we saw this weekend one might wonder if he has his sights set on Vegas again.

As was the trend of the weekend there were three winners. Each winning a different competition. Grave Digger driven by Gary Porter won freestyle by a wide margin. His performance brought the fans to their feet earning a high score of 27.

Whit Tarleton won the Wheelie Competition by one point over Madusa and Grave Digger who tied with scores of 24. Whit drove Monster Mutt to a score of 25.

Randy Moore again had problems with War Wizard in racing. As with the afternoon event he was racing hard and won rounds one and two before breaking a rear steering hose causing problems with the drive train forcing his truck out for the evening. Nobody was more upset than Randy. "I thought we were going to be able to double down this weekend and all we did was double the cost of repairs to the truck", he said in a post event interview.

The Fearless Flores Family performed the Sphere of Fear with three motorcycles in the sphere at one time. Fans experienced the only known female motorcycle riders to take on the Sphere. Fans loved the action.
