Weekend Race Recap
Friday:
Tonight, the Ford Center was ravaged by six Monster Jam Competitors leaving a trail of carnage and destruction. The competitors had three events in which to prove their dominance. The six competitors competed in wheelie round, the racing, and the famous freestyle to win the overall competition.
The first event the competitors partook in was the Monster Jam Sky Wheelie contest. In this competition the three judges were looking for two vertical wheel stands as the Monsters hit the crushed cars for the first time. With only a one point margin of victory the nail biting event started the night off with a bang. Grave Digger was the winner with the high score of 26, which was one point above Blue Thunder.
The show quickly moved into the Monster Jam Racing. During Round One, we had some really tight battles. Grave Digger defeated Backwards Bob. Then Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle took the victory against Bad Habit. The final race in round one would be the closest race in the First Round. Blue Thunder defeated Martial Law. The Semi Final action was tighter than Round One. Grave Digger, driven by Pablo Huffaker, would defeat the fast loser from Round One, Martial Law. Next was Tony Ferrell driving Blue Thunder taking on Aaron Basl in Turtle. After Blue Thunder made a critical mistake in the final turn, Turtle was the first truck across the Ford finish line. Going into the Finals were teammates Turtle and Grave Digger. With a close race, Grave Digger took the win.
The final event of the night would be the crowd favorite, Monster Jam Freestyle: One truck at a time and sixty seconds of total mayhem. The final event would prove exciting but Grave Digger lived up to its name digging a whole that the other competitors couldn’t crawl out of. Huffaker would launch the Black and Green wrecking machine higher and farther than the rest of the field. Grave Digger took home the clean sweep with a high score of 28.
