Wheelie comp went off a lot like it did in Chicago last weekend. Jimmy Creten was the man again. The rules were the same but the coarse was different. This week was was concrete which meant the run up was slick and the drivers had to wait to throttle the Monster Jam Trucks over the crush cars. He was spectacular. He was not to be beaten in the doughnut comp either. He had tires smoking and the truck in an all out cyclone. The only thing left for the night was freestyle. Iron Outlaw was the first out and set the bar at 23. His use of the coarse was spot on but the cars were not laying down enough for him to clear the entire row which drivers after him used to his advantage. Next was Raminator which would fall one point short of a lead change but still was a solid run. Rammunition was the next but the points went against him scoring a 20. Bad news had a chance trying to work the doughnut into his run but after talking to him after the show he said he had problems with wheel speed so a long night could be in store for him and his crew as a gearing change are in order. He would score a 21. Bounty Hunter came out hungry for a win and he would step up his program and crush not only the van stack but also the score held onto by Iron Outlaw. He would take the win with a 29 three out of four wins on night number one.

Finals

Bounty Hunter beats Raminator

Wheelie comp turned out to be a repeat of last night; Jimmy Creten was the man again. He was able to stand it up and impress the judges to get to the win. Doughnut contest was between Iron Outlaw and Bad News. Bad News was able to get the truck spinning quick. Due to the hard work last night when he changed gearing to get more wheel speed. He would get a 27 which would tie him with Iron Outlaw already sitting on the score of 27. Bounty Hunter would be last to go and the judges did not see to give him the win. The scores came down as a 25 leaving Jimmy a bit disappointed.

Now on to freestyle! Rammunition was first to come out and made a great start scoring a 25 which would hold off the field for quite awhile. Next out was Iron Outlaw was the next to take the course and was able to string the hits together which only got a score of 23. Next to try and tear it up was Raminator. He seemed to have some trouble breaking the tires loose in the doughnut comp and had trouble doing it in the freestyle. He would leave the floor after receiving a 21. Bad News hit the floor and pounded the cars and the van stacks to land a 24 putting him in second for the time being. Last out of the gate was Bounty hunter and out the gate he came. Driving like a man possessed he was aggressive with doughnuts car hits and destroying what was left of the van stack. The end of the day would find him with a perfect score of 30 and would make his mark in history in Springfield.

 Saturday Night

The racing came down to the two men who had each a win in the 1-800-SAFE-AUTO race finals. This would be the deciding race. Raminator had a win from Friday win, Bounty Hunter had a win this afternoon. Tonight once again it came down to these two men in the finals. Lane choice would go to Bounty Hunter after he again had drawn the #1 pick giving him lane choice through the rounds of racing. He would narrowly edge out Raminator for the win setting his record to 2 wins 1 loss.

Rammunition was the winner in the doughnut contest. Great speed and a tight circle led to his victory. In the pits Jimmy Creten and crew worked feverishly to repair a slashed tire in the racing final round. As the time drew near for Bounty Hunter to go for his doughnut run, we were informed he would not be able to get the tire fixed in time. This also may put him out for freestyle.

Freestyle started with Iron Outlaw and after a great run the score cards came out and they gave him a 24. This score seemed a little light in view of a great run. Iron Outlaw came into the pits and the pit crew went to work fast on removing the tire and replaced it on Bounty Hunter (it pays to have team mates here together). Rammunition was next and posted a 25 taking over the lead and raising the bar once again. Raminator would rip it up as he has all weekend and would score a 25 putting him in a tie for the lead. Now it was up to Bad News to bring his A game and try to break the tie. He did doughnuts, had big air and worked the van stack into lather. He would not break the tie but land a 25 and increase the tie. We were now looking at a three way tie with one truck left. Bounty Hunter seemed like he was out to prove something. I think that missing the doughnut comp lit a fire under him that was not going to be put out with an average run. Bounty Hunter had a slap wheelie, doughnuts, big air, and even went over the van stack in reverse! Talk about getting a crowd to their feet. Bounty Hunter would end up with a 30 and go three for three so far this weekend in freestyle. Great job by all the drivers and crew. One show left can Jimmy sweep freestyle or will some step up and dethrone Bounty Hunter?

Sunday Afternoon

The racing has been great all weekend; the #1 draw for qualifying seemed to end up our winner in the race final. It does have its advantage to be picking the lanes all night. Tonight’s #1 draw was from Rammunition. He would end up in the finals but he would be up against a man who had already pulled two out of three wins in racing Bounty Hunter. They towed up to the line and as we noticed the cars had laid down pretty close today so there was going to be close racing. The light went green and it would be a close one. The winner would get the victory by roughly one foot and that winner would be Bounty Hunter.

Freestyle we would see the boys unleash it all. Two vans stacks were in place for the final show and the guys used them for some big hits. Rammunition was out to set the pace and would post a solid 23. Iron Outlaw brought the thunder and would edge his way into the lead at 24. Raminator would be sitting in a tie with his partner in crime at a 23 but I thought he would have been higher on the scoring chart seeing his aggressiveness out there. Bad News would in the hunt for the lead but ended up landing in a tie, a three way tie for second with a 23. Now it was Bounty Hunters turn to see if he could sweep the Freestyle comp for the weekend. He wanted it bad and did not fail to deliver. He was mixing and stringing tricks together from the green light, the most interesting thing happened after the time was up. He set up for the reverse hit over the van stack but was a little off center. He got on the gas and it caused the truck to start to lean heavy to the driver’s side as he left the vans. You know what they say you can’t stop gravity. Bounty Hunter started the slow roll all the way over still the engine stopped and the truck was lying on its side. The crowd went crazy. It was after time but he still received a 26 and would complete his run at freestyle and he ended up sweeping the weekend. Great job to Jimmy Creten and his unbelievable crew for a job well done this weekend until next time see you around town
