Weekend Race Recap

Friday -
If there ever was a doubt if the "slowly" aging Dennis Anderson was ready to hand the proverbial baton off the newer generation of drivers, tonight put that theory to rest. In 2009, Anderson and Digger have dominated to the extent of 5 double down victories and 1 clean sweep. Tonight was that "clean sweep." Every time Dennis hit the floor was a win. Given the talent of the entire field of monster trucks that were here, Dennis was NOT looking forward to what would be required to beat them. He even said something to that extent in the drivers meeting. On a different note, it was great to see the always enthusiastic Madusa back on tour with the Monster Jam regulars. To her credit, she also earned the "qualifier" flag. Very close to tears tonight when it was announced, you could see the sincere appreciation in the vote of confidence from the fans.

To make a long story short, wheelie contest-winner-Digger, racing winner-Digger, freestyle winner-Digger. Nuff said!

More to talk about tomorrow with 2 shows scheduled.

Saturday Afternoon -
A great turn-out for the Built Ford Tough Party in the Pits was just a preface of what was to come for the actual event. An anxious audience, enthusiastic kids, and hard charging action turned out to be the perfect recipe for a Saturday afternoon monster party. Leading the hard chargers was once again, Dennis Anderson and Grave Digger. But another driver also has to be mentioned with having a great afternoon and that is Don Frankish and his Maniac Ford F-350. Dennis and Digger may have won everything in sight today, but it was Frankish that pushed him to every single one of those wins. In fact, midway through the 2 lap BK Whopper racing finals, Frankish and Maniac had the advantage. It was the last turn the was the undoing of Maniac, with Don having a slight problem going wide, Dennis nailed a perfect final turn and took the win.

As the afternoon and the competition wore on, it turned into a repeat performance of last night's show. Wheelie Contest - winner - Dennis Anderson in Grave Digger ….. Racing - winner - Dennis Anderson in Grave Digger ….. Freestyle - winner - Dennis Anderson in Grave Digger, that makes it 6 for 6 in competition this weekend alone for the Digger icon. One show remaining this weekend and it'll be a good one, trust me!

Saturday Evening -
I know all the announcers across the entire USHRA series at one time or another has started their recap with the word WOW. Well, there is absolutely no other word in the English language that can better describe tonight. Dennis Anderson and Grave Digger went the ENTIRE WEEKEND without a loss. We're talking 3 shows, we're talking wheelie, racing, and freestyle. Undefeated! That's a total of 9 wins. Don't get me wrong, it's not like he wasn't pushed all night because in qualifying it was real tight between Dennis and Don Frankish and Maniac. Only .2 of a second separated the 2 monsters. Maniac had mechanical issues in the first round and wasn't able to continue in racing. In freestyle, Madusa made her fans proud when she had an incredible freestyle and true to her "mentor's" style, had a big time roll over to finish the run. There will have to be a new body mounted for the World Finals in Vegas in just 2 weeks, that's for sure.

Well, I've said it twice already this weekend, "tonight's action ….. wheelie contest - winner - Dennis Anderson/Grave Digger ….. racing competition - winner - Dennis Anderson/Grave Digger ….. freestyle - winner - Dennis Anderson/Grave Digger.

What else can be said besides WOW! We had a great time here in Nampa, ID and are not only looking forward to the World Finals 10 in Vegas in 2 weeks, but also coming back here in 2010!
