Weekend Race Recap

Friday night:

Back at the Wachovia Arena for the first of 4 shows. Last year at this arena, Safe Auto ended up in the first row (thank god for our safety holds). So with that on the back of all our super stars minds they made sure to avoid the walls.

Talk about starting the show off with a bang! Jennifer Schneider aka the Cannon Lady kicked the night off with a 120ft launch across the arena. The drivers had a tough act to follow after she set the stage.

OK, OK, I tried to do my part when I went head first into the stands. That's right I admit it I tried jumping into the stands and lost my footing on the plastic and ended up announcing from my back! Go ahead laugh........

The wheelie contest was first up and it would set the tone for what would become a night of upsets. It is always nice to have a local favorite come out on top and when we found ourselves in a 4 way tie the 4th judge broke it and the win went to pottsville, PA native Andy Slifko and Eradicator.

Wheelie Results:

Iron Warrior                 18

Back Draft                   20

Eradicator                    23

Black Stallion               23

Monster Mutt               23

Grave Digger                23

In the United States Marine Corps Monster Racing the upsets continued. A fast track would make things pretty tight for our superstars this evening. Jeremy Slifko and Back Draft continues to improve and shows why he is a contender for the 2009 rookie of the year award. Unfortunately Jeremy and Back Draft met With Tarlton and Monster Mutt in round one.  Along with Grave Digger piloted by Gary Porter and Mike Vaters and Black Stallion won their race in the first round. Andy Slifko and Eradicator found themselves in the semis as the fastest loser. The semis watched as Eradicator and Black Stallion knocked off to fan favorites. In the end it was Mike and Black Stallion that claimed the Friday night title.

Before UTI Freestyle tonight we witnessed one of the most amazing stunts in the world. Radical Rob Schneider the Dynomaniac lowered himself into his box that rocks! With the equivalent of 10 sticks of Dynomite in the box with him Rob lit the fuse. Surviving this crazy stunt once again the former quad wars competitor was most definitely a lil' rattled.

The UTI Freestyle would be the end of the night of upsets as Grave Digger would come out victorious. Black Stallion was unable to compete in freestyle as his starter went right before he was supposed to take to the floor.

Freestyle Results:

Iron Warrior                 3

Backdraft                     14

Eradicator                    17

Monster Mutt               22

Grave Digger                25

See you all tomorrow at the Built Ford Tough Party In The Pits!

Greg Simas

Saturday 2pm

After a successful Built Ford Tough Party In The Pits the drivers were ready and waithing for round 2 to begin. I was nice to see Whit Tarlton and Monster Mutt win the wheelie contest to start the long day.

Wheelie Results:

Iron Warrior                 18

Back Draft                   16

Eradicator                    21

Black Stallion               22

Monster Mutt               24

Grave Digger                22

The racing brought the most excitement all day as finally the Father Son duo of Andy and Jeremy Slifko would meet at the advance auto parts start line not once but twice. They met in round one and the teacher taught another lesson to the student. Jeremy was brought back as the fastest loser where he would meet Black Stallion in the semis. Jeremy took full advantage of his second chance and knocked off the veteran Mike Vaters and Black Stallion. With his son waiting in the finals Andy knew what he had to do and he did it! He took down Grave Digger to meet his son once again in the finals. The outcome would be the same as Eradicator came out victorious in the finals.

Freestyle Results:

Iron Warrior                 15

Back Draft                   16

Eradicator                    18

Black Stallion               20

Monster Mutt               21

Grave Digger                24

Grave Digger                18

The racing found Mike Vaters and Black Stallion take the victory as Grave Digger was stuck on the Advance Auto Parts start line with a bum transmission. I will say this each and every race was as close as they could get.

Freestyle Results:

Iron Warrior                 14

Back Draft                   20

Eradicator                    18

Black Stallion               23

We look forward to a great finale tomorrow afternoon,

Greg Simas

Sunday afternoon was as always a great show here in Wilkes Barre. This weekend seemed to belong to Mike Vaters and Black Stallion as he started his afternoon off right with the highest score of the weekend and the wheelie contest  victory.

Wheelie Results:

Iron Warrior                 18

Back Draft                   19

Eradicator                    24

Black Stallion               27

Monster Mutt               22

Grave Digger                21

The racing was up next and Mike was craving another victory. After all was said and done we had a classic match up in the Marine Corps racing finals, Mike Vaters and Gary Porter, Black Stallion against Grave Digger. Mike would make it 3 out of 4 with his victory over Gary and Grave Digger.

Freestyle was left and Black Stallion wanted nothing less than a clean sweep on Sunday. He posted an early lead but Grave digger came out and posted the same score so we went with the old fashion cheer off and no matter where you are the Black and Green wrecking machine will win that one hands down.

Freestyle Results:

Iron Warrior                 15

Back Draft                   18

Eradicator                    19

Black Stallion               24

Monster Mutt               21

Grave Digger                24

Until Next Time,
