(Winnipeg, MB) The 2009 Partsource Monster Jam roared into the modern and spacious MTS Centre on Saturday February 7th for the first of a three event weekend. Unseasonably warm outside temperatures brought a huge number of friendly Manitobans out to the Pit Party. All of them left the Pit Party with autographs and great memories of meeting with the stars of Monster Jam.

Shortly after the conclusion of the Pit Party, Monster Jam Technical Officials Bob Quint, Al and Heather Lamere, and Papa Speller got to work to get the track ready for the 2:00 P.M. start. Monster Jam drivers in the building included Paul Strong (Martial Law), Joe Sylvester (Bad Habit), Kristy Edge (Jurassic Attack), Don Frankish (Maniac), Chuck Werner (Bulldozer), and Kreg Christensen in Maximum Destruction.

Monster Jam Racing Round One saw Martial Law defeat Bad Habit, due to Bad Habit missing part of the crush cars resulting in a disqualification. Maniac defeated teammate Jurassic Attack, while Maximum Destruction driver Kreg Christensen destroyed Bulldozer.

The Semi Final brought Kristy Edge in Jurassic Attack back as Fast Loser. This time, Edge took advantage of the opportunity as she took out Martial Law driver Paul Strong. The other saw Maniac defeat Maximum Destruction in a photo finish.

The Monster Jam Racing Final was an all-Canadian affair with Maniac and Jurassic Attack at the starting line. Not only are these drivers Canadian, but they are also teammates. But there would be no sense of friendship in this race as they took off the starting line with fury. Edge, the 2008 Monster Jam Rookie of the Year, did a great job in turn one of the huge oval course, but Frankish would be just as strong. As the race continued, it was impossible to know who was leading as both trucks remained absolutely even. At the finish line, however, it would be Don Frankish in Maniac in another photo finish.

Partsource Freestyle Competition was a wild affair which produced strong efforts once again from the Canadian contingent of Maniac and Jurassic Attack. Kristy Edge managed a respectable score of 18 points, but was once again bettered by Don Frankish in Maniac who earned 19 points. Frankish’s high score remained until Kreg Christensen wheeled out Maximum Destruction and wowed the crowd with his wild driving antics. Maximum Destruction captured huge air throughout the MTS Centre and ended his run with a spectacular rollover. Somehow, however, Christensen managed to land right back on his wheels. This was good enough for the Partsource Freestyle victory and a score of 25 points.
The final Freestyle scores ended as follows:

Martial Law 14
Bad Habit 14
Jurassic Attack 18
Maniac 19
Bulldozer 15
Max D 25
FREESTYLE WINNER: MAX D!

In other action, the newly-formed Northern Lightning Sprint Association took to the big oval for the first-ever indoor Sprint Car race in Manitoba history. These lightweight Sprint Cars are powered by 150 horsepower motorcycle engines, and the sound of these little rockets was simply incredible inside the MTS Centre. Drivers Eric Guyot, Jeff Laurin, Bob Charney, Roland Bernard, and Bob Saindon did a great job steering their Northern Lightning Sprints around a rough and tacky track. More information on this exciting new class can be found at www.nlsprints.com
The Quad Wars Championship went to a very fast Team West, who out powered arch-rivals Team Toronto who made the long trek from Ontario.
Be sure to take in tonight’s action here at the MTS Centre when Monster Jam returns at 7:30 P.M.

Saturday night 7:30PM:

(Winnipeg, MB) The second show of the 2009 Partsource Monster Jam began at 7:30 P.M. on Saturday night. The beautiful MTS Centre played host to Monster Jam stars Paul Strong (Martial Law), Joe Sylvester (Bad Habit), Kristy Edge (Jurassic Attack), Don Frankish (Maniac), Chuck Werner (Bulldozer), and Kreg Christensen in Maximum Destruction.
The evening started with the Wheelie Competition, and it was all Maximum Destruction with driver Kreg Christensen earning an impressive score of 24 points from the West 49 judges. Second place went to Bulldozer at 19 points, while Maniac ended up third with 18. Martial Law scored 17 points, Jurassic Attack had 15, while Bad Habit finished with 12 points.

Monster Jam Racing Round One saw Martial Law get beat by Bulldozer, Maniac defeated Bad Habit, while Maximum Destruction driver Kreg Christensen took out Kristy Edge in Jurassic Attack.

The Monster Jam Racing Semi Final paired Bulldozer against Fast Loser Bad Habit. Bulldozer pilot Chuck Werner was pretty much flawless as he steered the big bull to victory. The other race was simply an outstanding contest from start to finish, with Maximum Destruction narrowly edging out a charging Don Frankish in Maniac.

The Monster Jam Racing Final paired Maximum Destruction against Bulldozer.
And as has been the case all weekend long here at Monster Jam, video footage was required to determine the winner of this important race. It was extremely close all around the race track, but when the video was posted to the big screen, there was no doubt that Bulldozer was the victor.

Partsource Freestyle Competition was once again dominated by Kreg Christensen in Maximum Destruction, although Canadian drivers Kristy Edge in Jurassic Attack and Don Frankish in Maniac posted very impressive scores of 19 and 21 respectively. Bulldozer was able to charge to a score of 20, while Martial Law earned 15 points and Bad Habit collected 14. The story of the night was certainly Maximum Destruction, however, as veteran driver Kreg Christensen ended his Partsource Freestyle run on his roof. Christensen was almost able to save it, but momentum carried the big ten thousand pound SUV up and over on the race track. This maneuver was good enough for 27 points and the Partsource Freestyle overall win.

The Northern Lightning Sprint Association also returned to action and showed the crowd what high-powered open wheel racing is all about. Many of the drivers increased their wing angle for tonight’s performance which equaled more down force and better performance. These cars were certainly hooked up and flying.
In Quad Wars action, Team Western Canada stole the win over Team Toronto in a hotly-contested race.
The third and final event of the 2009 Partsource Monster Jam take place Sunday at 2:00 P.M. right here at the MTS Centre. Don’t miss a second of the action as the stars of Monster Jam work hard to create a path of absolute destruction.

Sunday:

(Winnipeg, MB) The 2009 Partsource Monster Jam at the MTS Centre ended on a high note with an incredible performance by all competitors.
The afternoon event began with the West 49 Wheelie Competition. Maximum Destruction took first place with a score of 27 points. Second place went to Bulldozer with 19 points, while Maniac ended up with 17. Martial Law also scored 17 points, Jurassic Attack scored 16, and Bad Habit finished with 11.

Monster Jam Racing Round One paired Bulldozer against Martial Law, with Bulldozer taking the win. Maximum Destruction got past Jurassic Attack, and Maniac disposed of Bad Habit.
The Monster Jam Racing Semi Final brought Kristy Edge in Jurassic Attack back to the line as Fast Loser against Bulldozer. Driver Chuck Werner carved great lines through the corners of the big oval track and took the win over the big dinosaur. The other Semi Final race saw Canadian sensation Don Frankish in Maniac storm past Kreg Christensen in Maximum Destruction.
It would be Maniac against Bulldozer in the Monster Jam Racing Final. Canadian driver Don Frankish was determined to take this important win, and certainly possessed the driving talent to do just that. However, Chuck Werner in Bulldozer would be just slightly better as he used his signature smooth driving style to sail his Bulldozer entry over the finish line first. It was certainly a close race.
Partsource Freestyle Competition saw another huge effort by Maximum Destruction driver Kreg Christensen. Maximum Destruction was simply relentless as he pounded the crush cars and the competition into oblivion. Christensen ended his Partsource Freestyle Competition run with yet another rollover, making it twelve for the season on route to a competition-winning score of 26 points. Other Freestyle scores were 15 for both Martial Law and Bad Habit, 17 points for Jurassic Attack, 19 for Maniac, and 23 points for Bulldozer.

The Northern Lightning Sprint Association finished off the weekend with a spectacular crash. Winnipeg’s Jeff Laurin hooked a rut on the challenging course and went way up on two wheels. This action collected driver Bob Saindon, which brought out the red flag. Both drivers were OK and the wheel-to-wheel race resumed quickly.
In Quad Wars action, Team Western Canada took the overall championship against Team Toronto in yet another high energy race.
The 2009 Partsource Monster Jam in Winnipeg was certainly a huge success. When you combine tremendous Monster Jam action with Quad Wars, Demolition Derby and the first-ever indoor Sprint Car race in Manitoba, magical things will happen. And there was plenty of magic throughout this great building all weekend long.
