The monsters are back in Jonesboro in 2006, and for the first time ever, Max D. takes the town by storm. Max D.’s fans here have been waiting for years to see their favorite monster tear it up, and when all was done… they experienced even more than they had expected.

The night began with a very close Wheelie Contest. After Bruce Haney scored a 16 in Bad News, the rookie Chuck Werner took the top score up to 20 to the put the pressure on the final two trucks. In the process, though, Hot Wheels broke the rear axle. Though the damage kept him out of racing, he did make it back for the Doughnut Context. The next truck rode the Wheelie from one end of the car stack to the other. The score of 23, Devastator would be tough to beat. Max D. launched into some big air, but Neil Elliot’s score of 21 would not take it. Mark Schroeder held for the first win of the night.

From then on it was all Max D. In round one of racing, with Hot Wheels out, Max D. advanced to the finals with a bye run. In the second race, Devastator found the finish line first, narrowly taking out Bad News. With the finals set, we knew the experience of Schroeder would be tough to beat. But Elliot has been on quite an impressive racing winning streak this season. It was nearly too close to call, but Max D. clearly took the finish line.

In Quad Wars, an overconfident Team Western Kentucky had initially won the main event, but gave the points away during a captain’s challenge. It appeared that they would cruise to the victory, but the team captain kept slowing up on the track. The final time, Team Arkansas State blew right past him for the victory.

The Doughnut Contest proved to be the most exciting part of the night. Even Devastator, a truck built for racing and wheelies, pulled off a crowd pleasing performance en route to a score of 18. The Hot Wheels crew had been thrashing on the truck since the start of the show, and got the monster back on the track in time. Chuck whipped the truck into a tight circle and held it… until that is, he blew out the rear end again. His score led all with 26. The final two trucks lit it up. Bad News is known for great doughnuts, and Bruce did not disappoint. Once he got it going, his steering wheel came loose… so, he just held it out the window. The crowd loved it, and scored a perfect 30. The final truck had a chance to tie. But, it would take something pretty amazing. The Max D. came out to the track; the crowd began yelling loudly… they really wanted to see their truck tear it up. Sure enough, Neil launched into a cyclone that topped all cyclones. Normally, when we see this kind of speed, a tire begins to lift, and either the driver throttles down…or, the truck quickly flips onto its lid. Not this time. Neil had it perfect. He kept the speed the entire time… we waited… but, it didn’t flip. Amazing. The crowd agreed, and scored it a 30. On the cheer-off, it wasn’t even close. Maximum Destruction took to victory.

Max D. was on a roll, and the crowd was behind him all the way. Freestyle was no different. With Hot Wheels in the pits, and Bad News shutting it down with damage after his first run (crowd scored it a 9), it would again be a show down between Devastator and Max D. Although, Schroeder put up a good fight on his way to a score of 18, it was the trademark sick air of Max D. that made the difference. On this small, concrete track, Neil found a way to launch that truck high into the air. It’s just what the crowd expects from the truck. And since this was Max D.’s first time here, Neil was determined to not disappoint them… and he didn’t. His perfect score of 30 was his reward, and proof of a packed house of satisfied fans.

Saturday 8PM -

Tonight, completely belonged to the devoted fans of Maximum Destruction. Neil Elliot made it a clean sweep tonight, as he thrilled the crowd in every competition.

Max D had to really get the truck up into the air and hold on to the Wheelie to top the run by Devastator. It was the big air that won over the crowd to earn the score of 28.

In Racing’s first round, Devastator took out Bad News, and Max D. powered past Hot Wheels. Tonight’s finals, then, would be a rematch of last nights, to give Devastator a chance to take down Max D. But, with the Elliot’s ability to push that truck over the car stack, it just wasn’t meant to be. Max D. took the race and a Racing sweep for the weekend.

Tonight’s Doughnut competition was even better than last night’s… if you could believe it.

Bad News could have easily earned a 30 to give us a three way tie. Hot Wheels had a cyclone similar to Max D’s from last night… and, nearly flipped it over as two tires began to lift up off the track. The crowd again had to cheer to crown a champion. Although the rookie in Hot Wheels really did an outstanding job, the crowd awarded Max D his second win of weekend for topping the cyclone he laid down last night.

In Quad Wars, the visiting team completely fell apart as the captain constantly criticized his teammates. Eventually, his teammate protested and demanded that either he race in the main, or, they do. The crowd decided to eject the captain, and Team Western Kentucky lost the race with just three riders. The Captain came back, and demanded to settle this by challenging the Arkansas State captain to a final race for all of the weekend’s points. The fan cheered loudly when the home racing team took that final race, and all of the weekend’s points.

Freestyle once again tonight belonged to Max D.

It was clear that even a smaller track surface could not slow Elliot down, or, prevent him from getting sick air. He cleared the entire car stack several times, getting at least 30 feet into the air, before slamming on the brakes just short of hitting the far wall. The crowd had the perfect score up immediately when he finished. Just no doubt about it, this city had waited a long time to see Max D…. but, it was well worth it.
