Weekend Race Recap

Friday - 8:00PM-The crowd was packed tonight as the Monster Jam blew through Albuquerque tonight.  Eight of the best trucks came to town to do business.

The first order of business was Monster Truck Qualifying.  The drivers would be racing Chicago Style this weekend.  The top qualifier was Tony Ferrell in Blue Thunder.  The brackets were set from qualifying.  The first round was really close.  Round One: Blue Thunder defeated Cyborg, El Toro Loco defeated Arachnaphobia, King Krunch defeated local favorite Pit Bull, and El Matador ended up with a bye run since Shattered broke in qualifying and didn't make the start.  Round Two was even better.  Round Two: Blue Thunder defeated El Toro Loco, and King Krunch defeated El Matador.  The final was the closest race of the night.  Blue Thunder defeated David Smith in King Krunch.

The final event of the evening was Monster Truck Freestyle.  One at a time, 60 seconds of mayhem.  Charles Benns didn't make the start in Freestyle.  Pit Bull out with transmission problems.  Shattered also didn't make it out for Freestyle.  The scores would go up and down in Freestyle.  Cyborg with a 16, Arachnaphobia a little higher with a 20, El Matador ended up with a 23, his teamate would do some awesome donuts and get a 25, Blue Thunder getting big air but popped his right rear near the end of the run and would score a 21, and the last truck would stand his truck on the tailgate a few times and would eventually take the win.  Lupe Sosa, El Toro Loco would score a 26 and take the close win in Freestyle.

Saturday - 8:00PM-The Tingley Coliseum was completely full tonight as the Monster Jam came through Albuquerque tonight.  You could definetly tell the Monster Jam World Finals are coming soon.  The drivers were driving awesome tonight.

Racing was the first order of business tonight.  We had to qualify one truck at a time first.  The top three qualifyers were: Blue Thunder, King Krunch, and El Toro Loco. After the qualifying was done, the brackets were set for the racing.  Round One: Blue Thunder would get a bye run for being fast qualifyer, Arachnaphobia defeated El Matador, El Toro Loco defeated Cyborg, and King Krunch defeated Shattered.  The semi-finals would be really close.  Blue Thunder defeated Arachnaphobia, and King Krunch defeated El Toro Loco.  We had a rematch from Friday Night.  Blue Thunder against King Krunch.  Each driver would push his truck to it's limit.  King Krunch would take the win.

The final event of the evening would be Monster Truck Freestyle.  One at a time, 60 seconds anything goes.  The Dirt Wurx crew would bring out an Advance Auto Parts Van Stack for Freestyle.  The scores seemed to be really close and really fair tonight.   Shattered would score a 17, Cyborg 19, Arachnaphobia a little higher with a 22, then King Krunch would ended up with a 26, Blue Thunder a 25 and the winner with an awesome Freestyle would be Lupe Sosa in El Toro Loco with a high score of 28.
