Weekend Race Recap
Friday - 8:00PM-The cold weather outside didn't keep the Monster Trucks from heating up the action tonight. The packed house was treated to an awesome show.
The first event of the night was Monster Truck Wheelie Contest and the scores got higher with each truck. Bad News with an 11, Blacksmith 13, Devastator 15, Predator 23, and to finish up Grave Digger with a perfect score of 30. Grave Digger's rear quarter panel of the truck drug along the crushed cars.
The brackets were set for Monster Truck Racing. The field was narrowed to just two trucks. Bruce Haney in Bad News would do battle with Pablo Huffaker in Grave Digger. Grave Digger was off the line first and would cross the Ford Finish Line first. Grave Digger was the race winner.
The final event of the night was Hardee's Monster Truck Freestyle. We had a three way tie on top of the leader board. Bad News, Devastator, adn Predator all were tied with 18. The last truck of the night would let loose. Grave Digger would tear it up. Pablo would finish with a perfect score of 30. Grave Digger is your Freestyle winner!
Saturday - 8:00PM-The sold out Arena was delighted to see the Thunder Nationals roar into McKenzie Arena tonight. Three events tonight for the Monster Trucks. Monster Truck Wheelie Contest, Monster Truck Racing, and the Hardee's Monster Truck Freestyle.
After the opening ceremony the crowd was ready for some straight up and down wheelies. The scores were relativley low for the first four trucks. Bad News 15, Devastator 17, Blacksmith 17, and Predator 16. The last truck would have the best Sky Wheelie of the night. Pablo Huffaker in Grave Digger would show the fans what he had. His score would be a 27. Grave Digger the Wheelie Contest Winner.
The brackets would be set for Monster Truck Racing from the scores of the Wheelie Contest. Round One: Grave Digger with a bye run, Bad News defeated Predator, and Blacksmith defeated Devastator in a close finish. Round Two: Grave Digger defeated Devastator (fast looser), and Bad News defeated Blacksmith. The finals were set. Bruce Haney in Bad News up against the Black and Green Wrecking Machine, Grave Digger. Digger with the launch off the line and wouldn't look back. Grave Digger defeated Bad News in the finals by about half a truck length.
The final event of the night would be Hardees Monster Truck Freestyle. The scores were really close. Bad News would go first and get scored an 18. Second truck was Devastator with a score of 20. Marc Schrader would hold the lead for a little while. Third truck would be Blacksmith, Aaron Basl would score a 19. Fourth truck would be Larry Jarzel in Predator, another 19. The last truck of the night would be Grave Digger. Pablo Huffaker would make the entire Freestyle with a red light glowing on the dash. After his Freestyle, Pablo would tell the crowd he had no oil pressure the entire run. That wouldn't stop Pablo from letting loose. The best Freestyle would be the winner, Grave Digger with a score of 27.
Sunday - 2:00PM- The near full house was treated to an awesome Thunder Nationals. The McKenzie Arena was in for a treat this afternoon. Five Monster Trucks came to Chattanooga for business this afternoon.
Up first was the Monster Truck Wheelie Contest. The judges did an excellent job. The scores were higher with each truck. Bad News scored a 19, Devastator a little higher with a 20, Blacksmith ended up with a 20 also, Predator even higher with a 21. The last truck would get the high score. Dragging the back of the truck on the cars once again. Grave Digger driven by Pablo Huffaker would be the Wheelie Contest Winner.
Using the results from the Wheelie Contest. The brackets would be set for side-by-side Monster Truck Racing. Round One: Grave Digger with a bye run, Predator defeated Bad News in a close finish, and Blacksmith defeated Devastator. Round Two: Grave Digger defeated Bad News (fast looser), and Predator defeated Blacksmith. The finals would be extremely close. Larry Jarzel in Predator vs. Grave Digger. Getting the jump off the line and not looking back would be Grave Digger.
The Hardees Freestyle would finish the show today. One truck at a time, anything goes on the floor. The scores would get higher again with each truck. Bad News with a 15, Devastator 16, Blacksmith, Aaron Basl, with a 17, Predator with an 18, and the last truck would tear up the floor. Pablo Huffaker told the crowd earlier in the night that he was looking for a clean sweep and he was right. The Freestyle Winner was Grave Digger with a score of 28.
