If you tuned in last year the weather was cold and alot of rain. This year proved to be different as the tempature was warm outside and hot on the inside as two Thunder National champions battled it out with three other Monster Trucks.

The wheelie compition was great as Iron Warrior led the way with a 21. Devastator was next and took the lead with a 27 which held over Eradicator who scored a 17. It seemed Schroeder was going to take the first win but Virginia Giant took the leed with a 29 and Black Stallion tied giving us our first crowd cheer off. In the end the crowd favored Giant giving him the first win.

Freestyle was next because of the non dirt event giving the crowd some exciting moments. Iron Warrior again started off stron with a 17 but Devastator again pleased the judges to score a soloid 27. Eradicator fell short with a 22 before Virginia Giant would take the lead by two with a 29. It was up to the reigning Thunder Nationals champ to dethrown Giant but he too fell short by one point with a 28 giving Diehl Willson his second win.

Racing came last as the field was set by the scores they recieved from the freestyle compition. In first round action Eradicator won over Devastator and Black Stallion would also advance by beating Iron Warrior. Virginia Giant got the buy round for winning freestyle and would make it into the finals by defeating fast looser Devastator. Black Stallion would also make it into the finals by defeating Eradicator by inches in one of the closes races of the night. In the finals the crowd was wittnessing two Thunder National champions linening up for head to head battle. When the green light came on Virginia Giant edge out Black Stallion to sweep all compitions for the night.

Team Michigan would again upset the home team Indiana by beating them two out of three races for the night. A.J Short the captian of the home team came back out to the floor to reasure the crowd that they will prevail at saturday nights race and ask everyone to come back and cheer his team to victorie.

Evansville was also treated to high flying action from the BMX riders of the Dew Action sports tour and also the loud fire burning Jet funny car Armagedon drive by Tim Arfonz.

Racing Winner Saturday 8:00pm: Virginia Giant

Robert’s stadium was filled to the roof with screaming fans where a near sell out crowd cheered on their favorite monster trucks. The action started with the wheelie contest as the judge’s scores were tough but fair. Iron Warrior stepped it up a notch and came out flying high with a score of 17. Devastator was next and took the lead with an 18 but it also wouldn’t last long as Eradicator scored a 19. Virginia Giant would take the lead for good with a 24 as Black Stallion would come close with an awesome wheelie that only scored him a 22.

Freestyle was also close at the start as Iron Warrior would start out with a 15 followed by Devastator with a 17. Eradicator had some high air over the five stacked cars and took the lead with a 21. Virginia Giant was looking for another sweep as he spun a great doughnut to finish his freestyle and scored a 27 to take the lead. This didn’t last long as Black Stallion would take his first win of the weekend by scoring a 28 with a freestyle run that featured his signature move the reverse know as the Saturday night special.

Round one of racing was close as Virginia Giant beat Iron Warrior and Eradicator defeated Devastator to advance into the semi finals. Black Stallion automatically advanced into the semi finals as the buy winner and would face fast looser. In the semi finals Virginia Giant would advance once again by beating Eradicator only by a foot as well as Black Stallion getting the win over fast looser Devastator. The finals were once again the reigning Thunder Nationals champ taking on the past champion. When the green flag dropped Virginia Giant had the better start and would go on to win for the second time tonight and fifth overall win for the weekend.

Team Michigan took the early lead in quad wars by winning the first two races. In the last race team Indiana would battle back as the captain AJ Short would block for Cindy Erwin to give her and her team a well deserved win in front of there home town crowd.
