Pensacola, FL(March 9-10, 2001)
Friday The crowd was ready for a great show on Friday night in Pensacola. It didn't matter how cool or windy it was outside, because the show was indoors at the Pensacola Civic Center. In the Quad Wars battle, we had Team Florida vs. Team Alabama. The crowds loyalty to Florida was definately evident by all their cheering because Team Florida won the main! Good Racing! The thrills threw Galactron up against Reptar! Very Cool!!
For the first time ever, The USLMRA (U.S Lawn Mower Racing Association) took part in a Thunder Nationals show. It was awesome! And there was plenty of great racing, carnage, accidents, etc. for everyone.
Monster truck racing was unbelieveable! Eradicator, Monster Patrol, Rambo, & Sting were all ready for the challenge. Monster Patrol won with a wheelie, with Sting trailing for second place. Freestyle was another story, Eradicator threw a rod and the motor was trashed for the weekend. But, the freestyle highlight of the night was definately Sting. Tony Farrell tore the track up for a perfect score!! And finally a little bit of gossip that was going around: it looks like Black Stallion may go to Vegas!
Saturday It had to be Sting's weekend in Pensacola Florida! Apparently, winning the Freestyle competition on Friday night wasn't enough for driver Tony Farrell. Even the awesome wheelie done by Monster Patrol didn't convince judges that anyone but Sting should take home the wins on Saturday night. Sting won both the Monster Truck Racing Final and the Freestyle competition. Word is, Sting's Freestyle really brought the house down!!
It was Team Florida up against Team Alabama again for the Quad Wars. A captains challenge resulted in the Florida win for the weekend! For the 2nd night, the lawn mower races from USLMRA were out, and were alot of fun! And again, Galactron vs. Reptar was great!!
