Weekend Race Recap
Anaheim, CA (Jan. 26, 2002)

Saturday Night
12 trucks started the night in the elimination rounds, but only 4 made it back for semi-finals. Shocker vs. Bounty Hunter and Gravedigger vs. Madusa. Digger was an obvious win, pulling the holeshot inside digger was the pilot for this weekend, Charlie Paukins. The other semi-final was as close as a race can be. After 2 reviews in slow motion the hot rod officials were slow in making a decision. Due to a bad angle on the replay, and the absolute fraction of an inch separating the two trucks the call was made that Shocker would advance into the finals. Pat Gerber of Shocker and Jimmy Creten of Bounty Hunter talked in the pits, each driver thinking that the out come was just the opposite of what actually transpired. Shocker came back out in the main and ran a tough race up against Digger, but to no avail as the king of the monsters reigned again---Grave Digger wins the main in convincing fashion.

After the side-by-side drag race final was decided it was time for the highlight of any Monster Jam. FREESTYLE COMPETITION!!!!Mcgruff set the bar with a 24 point score, but not for long as Firemouth rode a power wheelie until he got into the pro quad track and started bouncing around on the moguls. Trying to power out of it, Scott Stevens finally succumbed to gravity, ending up on his roof. To the monster jam fan approval, he scored a 27. After feeling he was robbed in the semi-final, Jimmy Creten and Bounty Hunter came out with one mission in mind. WIN FREESTYLE!! Leaping over the van stack harder and faster than anyone previous, the Kragen Auto backed monster truck team tore up the course. Saving a near crash at high speed along with blowing a tire and continuing on, Jimmy Creten shows why he will most likely make the field to the World Finals 3 in Vegas. Bounty Hunters freestyle set the bar to high for those left to run. A perfect 30 for Bounty Hunter locked up the win in Freestyle Competition.

Bad to the bone dominated all others in Thunder Body Drags.
