Weekend Race Recap
Manchester, NH (January 24-26, 2003)

Friday
The evening started with an enormous showdown between two powerhouses as Black Stallion squared off against his former student, Backdraft, in the Wheelie contest.   With the crowd on their feet, both men scored 26 as the audience roared with applause before announcing Backdraft as the champion during the cheer off.   This years rookie of the year, Full Boar, was all a spin with his tires smokin' as he circled his way to a victory in the donut contest.  Following the unparalleled donut contest, Mike Vaters came blazing out of the pits to put on a freestyle show.  Crushing everything thing in sight and putting the truck on it's tailgate, Vaters showed the crowd who competitors - and the fans - the tricks of the trade only a 21-year old veteran can master.   Following his intense freestyle, Vaters ended the night on the racing line as he squared off for a second time of the evening against rival Backdraft.  With a checkered flag finish that could have been missed with a blink of the eye, a flash or red flew across the finish line as Backdraft won his second title of the night and took racing as well.

Saturday 2pm

The rival continued today between student and teacher as Black Stallion and Backdraft battled for the king of the throne position.  With his momentum from last night, Backdraft came blazing out of the pits to win racing while Black Stallion impressed the crowd during with an amazing freestyle crushing all obstacles in sight and pulling the steering free during the donut contest.

Saturday 8PM
After an unprecedented two shows, competitors were chomping at the bit to dethrone Black Stallion and Backdraft.  There names have been the talk of the town all weekend long and tonight Bad News, Rambo and Full Boar ran as hard, fly as high, and spun as quick as they possibly could to keep the points so tight everything was decided with crowd approval.  Black Stallion was crowned the racing champion and all Full Boar ended up with was a blown engine!  Black Stallion dominated all aspects of tonight's competition and swept each and every category.  To date, the biggest air Vaters has collected this year.  Adding to the evenings drama, Team New Hampshire and Team Massachusetts ended there evening in a quad heap as the Captains came out swinging which provoked a challenge.  With four laps to decide the winner, Team Mass overshot a turn and ended up nearly rolling as Team New Hampshire collected the checkered flag.

Sunday
Mike Vaters in Black Stallion dominated the first half of the show tonight. He took the win in all 3 competitions: Wheelie 27, Doughnut 30, and Freestyle 29.
For the 4th show in a row, it was Black Stallion and Backdraft in the finals.

Tonight’s race was an unbelievable one. It was so close that the officials had to go to the instant replay to make a decision. After review, Backdraft was declared the winner, by just the tread on his tire.

After a nice freestyle run on Saturday night, Full Boar unfortunately blew his motor and was unable to perform today. Ed Eckert was on had to give some commentary and sign autographs.

Needless to say after 3 intense shows between Team Massachusetts and Team New Hampshire the racing was great. The tension was still extremely high after Saturday night’s show, when the Captain for Team MA cut off Team NH’s rider, slamming him into the concrete floor, wrecking his quad. When the racing was said and done, Team NH took the win for the day and the overall win for the weekend.

Steve Direnzo jumped an incredible 83’ from the catwalk to the Verizon Wireless arena on FIRE into an airbag!
