Saturday
One Persons problems are another persons opportunity. That said the saying rand true many times Saturday night in Vancouver. Problems plagued several of the monsters from the very start. Jamie Stidhen only had her Taurus truck running several times. Another truck that saw nothing but heartaches was Brian Christensen in his High Anxiety truck. With some outstanding racing the final was between Spiderman and Scarlett Bandit.
In the race final Scarlett Bandit driven by Dawn Creten was the winner catching Bobby Zee in Spiderman by a few inches. "I wanted to win all night and knew if I could just keep my head I would see the victory lane". an excited Dawn said after the race. The questionwas....could she do it in Freestye too.
Freestyle action was wild with the thousands of fans on their feet for most of the action.
Taurus 6 Came out for the first time of the night but broke early.
Obsession 25 Great action for Rick Swanson
Captain America 28 Jeff was fantastic and set the pace for the others
Scarlett Bandit 27 Close but not quite enough for the crowd to award #1
Bounty Hunter 30 A near perfect run a perfect score. Way to go
Spiderman 30 Not quiet the intensity of B.H. but close.
Gravedigger 29 Scott Pontbriand had handling problems all night in Gravediger it cost him the race win and the freestyle championship.
With Spiderman and Bounty Hunter tied it was time for a cheeroff. The fans went with Jimmy Creten and Bounty Hunter. That made it a perfect night for the couple from Kansas. Jimmy wins freestyle and Dawn wins the racing. "I wish we could do this every weekend, said Jimmy, "Then we would be assured of a spot in the World Finals in March." If they keep running like this team did in Vancouver tonight that Las Vegas trip is almost assured.
Autocross was a big hit with the fans the little sub compact cars raced on a modified figure 8 course with bumper bumping fender crashing action. In the end the winner was Glen George. His number 16 car outlasted at three challenges in the main to hold on for the win.
The demo derby saw almost 20 minutes of hard hitting action. Several of the drivers were veterans of the demos in B.C. place and gave the crowd a wild end to the night of action. Winner and last car moving was Kyle Raats.
Robosaurus also thrilled the fans by eating three cars and paying a visit to several sections of fans.
