DRIVER HISTORY

"It's not even close to a real job," said Frank Krmel of his career on the monster truck tour. "It's more like a dream."

Krmel (pronounced Kremmel) met the original owner of King Krunch as a young teenager. He began helping him out at shows near home and traveling to his shop during the summer. Here Krmel learned the ins and outs of monster truck mechanics and the monster truck business.

A few years later, Krmel met Jim Koehler, the owner and driver of Avenger. Neighbors in Michigan, Krmel accompanied Koehler on the road as a crew chief, and got his first shot behind the wheel of a monster truck subbing for Koehler in Avenger in late 2001. "I can't thank Jim, or Chris Bergeron enough for everything they have taught me and done for me in the monster truck business. There is no way I'd be in the position I'm in now without them."

Krmel moved into a full time driving position in the winter of 2003, driving Pure Adrenaline for Randy Brown Motorsports. Krmel drove Demolition Man in the winter of 2004 and was selected to represent NBA Future Hall of Famer Karl Malone in his Power Forward monster truck for the 2005 season. In 2006 Krmel took the wheel of Del Taco’s Del Scorcho. Krmel fell just a few points short of a Freestyle World Championship at the Monster Jam World Finals in 2006. After spending 2007 in Hot Wheels, Krmel was selected to drive the "Donkey Kong" themed truck.

In the summer of 2009, Krmel was chosen to be Linsey Weenks' teammate in the "Built Ford Tough Blue Thunder" truck. When asked, Krmel was ecstatic about his new opportunity. "I couldn't be any more excited to be a part of the Built Ford Tough Blue Thunder team, it really is a homecoming of sorts for me." Krmel also went on to say "Linsey and I have a motto; Two drivers, two trucks, one team, and two goals: win, and put on the best show we can!"
